Good stuff.
I was really pleased with this one and loved the action.
The first two pages annoyed the hell out of me besides the first Tandy Bowen bubble I was looking for easter eggs and found nothing... really tedious.
Good conversation with De Wolfe and Spider-Man. I like their interaction and their relationship. Her way of thinking was totally reasonable with Kingpin being the lesser of two evils and telling SM that he should take out Hammerhead because... Hey, he's a superhero and that's what they do.
Chinatown was a great scene IMO. I'm looking forward to seeing Iron Fist and Shang-Chi's relationship and more of them. Hammerhead was great as always and Spider-Man breaking his hand was a good touch. I'm also waiting to see the reaction between Spider-Man and Shang-Chi and hopefully Bendis keeps the continuity up because the Shang-Chi Team-Up was a really great story and I'd hate to throw it out the window.
Black Cat's appearance was hilarious. "Oh no..." "Hi sweety, Miss me?"
Still not saying this arc is great... just waiting for Bendis to drop the ball at the end... but hey at least I'm going in with low expectations. Really good issue though.
8/10

I liked the issue, thought it was a big step down from the first 2 tho. But remember, the first 2 were really awesome, so this issue was still better than a lot of the recent USM arcs. But I don't really understand.... first, I wanna know how Ultimate Black Cat is alive (which I'm sure we'll learn), and second, I know she liked Peter in the beginning of the Black Cat arc, but when she was on the roof with Kingpin, the Tablet, and Spidey, I kind of got the feeling she didn't really like him anymore. And now he's her "sweetie". Also, wtf was up with Scarlet Witch?!

Scarlet Witch is in USM, too? What is this? All of a sudden she's the most used character in the UU?

And Magneto is in UXM and UFF. I think they're just trying to get the people who read 616 to buy UU and vice versa.
And annoyingly, I probably will pick this up just to see Wanda.
Edit: AND Tandy Bowen!? Well, I'm picking this up for certain then. Cloak and dagger get ultimised, ooh yeah. By Baldy...

Wanda's appearance isn't even her it's some african american crazy girl in the police station that claims she's "The Scarlet Witch"... It was meant to be funny.

props to mwof for starting this thread....im still waiting for the day where icemastertron either starts an USM based thread, let alone contributes....that would be sweet, anyway..
Issue was good, not as hot as last issue, but better than 79....bendis has his groove back so far and im loving it.. i have no comment for black cat, but like i told you guys before, that tablet will show up again, somewhere, some arc, it will return. Glad to see the police captain again and annoyed with the random tandy comments.. but good issue 8.5/10

Ha! Me too! :(
Great issue though, and it's nice to see this book back to being as good as it was and playing to it's strengths.
The scene with Spidey going to the police station was perfect for the story...that's exactly what Peter should have done. Nice to see a cop on his side for once too.
The Shang-Chi/Iron Fist fight scene was good (esp. the bullet-grabbing part). And Black Cat at the end? Kind of makes me wonder if that confirms her as the "girlfriend" in the annual...

a) because i hate it when i am the one who starts it
b) cause the same people make the same comments it seems regardless of the issue....and i know he reads the book; he {ice} is all over the board, why not have him on here?

I havent been able to read the issues at the stores lately, cuz they've been selling out. So no point for me to be on here. And before you ask what about before, I didnt get USM before, so I had to get them in TPB, which took a while for the store to receive them.

I really really love that they now feature a letters page (4 issues in a row-- a new record? ), but they've GOT to stop featuring letters on "Dumped". If they hadn't gotten any mail for #79 by the time this needed to be published, I wish they would've at least featured some criticism. I personally didn't love #78, and this letters column came off sounding like Wizard.

Because that's what people do when they have absolutely nothing related to the topic to contribute to the thread.
Me, I leafed through it at the store because the hardcovers are a more economical buy (I did the math at one point), and I enjoy the extras in the HC more than I enjoy having the latest issue on my desk. Me being the Cat lover that I am, I ignored most of the issue in favor of that last spread. She's baaaaaack!
Although I agree with Spidey, the whole pizza with the Kingpin thing does sound like the start of a bad joke.

Great issue. After almost 20 issues of mediocre story, Bendis makes his come back with this arc. The action was very-well done, the chat with DeWolfe was great. I like how the police are FINALLY on Spidey's side. I loved both Danny Rand and Shang-Chi, I would love to see more of them. And the last page was amazing! Nice to see the Cat back. I guess we'll have to see if this goes along with the annual. Great stuff!

The general consensus is that this arc as a whole is a huge improvement over the last few stories. Most people have liked all 3 issues of this arc so far, a lot moreso than past issues.

Hey, maybe instead of Quicksilver saving Hawkeye, Shang-Chi shows up out of nowhere in Ultimates 2 #8 and catches ALL three bullets fired at Hawk...one in each hand and one in his teeth. That would rock. But not as much as Jason Statham. ;)
As for the issue, I liked it. I agree about the first two pages though, it was a little annoying and disorienting. I think Bendis could have illustrated Pete contemplating his dinner with Kingpin in a better, less convoluted way, but whatever. I really liked how Iron Fist and Shang Chi knew each other and were buddies. Also really liked how much they kicked ***. Spidey may have met his match in these two, lucky for him they're on the same side. Also really enjoyed the ending with Black Cat showing up, thought it was pretty funny in terms of Pete's reaction. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this arc.

I was wondering the same thing. Didn't she specifically say Spidey was her boyfriend (sorry, can't check cuz the issue is at home and I'm still at work)? I mean, she has appeared before in USM, and Bendis did say Pete would be "getting some Black Cat booty" soon (if I recall the quote correctly), so maybe it will end up being Black Cat. That would be my preference. I mean come on, this poor kid goes out on a daily basis risking his genetically super-powered neck for the betterment of mankind...if he doesn't deserve to get laid I don't know who does.
Perhaps I'm simplifying things too much and stereotyping males everywhere with this viewpoint...but I don't care. Pete deserves some booty, end of story.

Just because Cat said "boyfriend" doesn't mean anything for the annual yet. We still need to see how Peter handles her reappearance in the next issue. So I'm not jumping to conclusions until after that one. And if you really want to toss around hints remember one of the upcoming covers does show BC seemingly teaming up with Elektra and beating up Spider-Man.

Yeah but maybe when they say "girlfriend" they aren't talking about a steady. Just like Peter isn't her boyfriend just because she called him that.

Touche... good point. That's pretty weak though and the way they've been advertising it, I hope we're talking about a serious girlfriend.

I agree that it would be weak - just throwing the idea out there. If that were the case then when they used the words in the solits it should have been in quotes - "girlfriend" - but maybe that would have been too obvious.

Love the Warriors arc so far. I think she calls Spidey her boyfriend because she's teasing and has a go-getter personality. I also liked the conversation of Spidey and DeWolfe, which makes DeWolfe the Spider-Man equivalent of Commissioner Gordon.
I also found it hilarious that Spidey only says "Oh no..." when Black Cat appears, not when there's a gun pointed to his head by a pissed-off mobster.

for those that have read the shang-chi arc in UMTU, i clearly liked this one better. and i thought that he had left chinatown all together. or is this a DIFFERENT china town, the thugs all looked alike.
and i the drawing on this one better, then the team up.
I think there is a chance this could be connecting to the annual. Reason being is because (mentioned above) spidey says "Oh no...".
Now, if i remember correctly, black cat took a dunk in the river last time we saw her. Spidey didn't hate her, she wasn't an arch nemisis... He should have been shocked, yes, but not like "Oh no..not again" kind of thing. It seemed more of an annoyance...
Furthermore, she had no reason to refer to him as her boyfriend, and it seemed there was a lot more familiarity between the two then there would have normally been. I think that annual will take place before this issue.
Ah, and the opening pages. Seems i'm the only one who really liked it (granted I won't be reading it again) but i think it's composed very well. All that meaningless gitter jatter and Pete just walking about, his mind a million miles away. Artistically it's nice too... It's all dark and it was like I could almost HEAR all those voice bubbles going on and then boom, the next page was completely silence... like Peter just had to get away with from that noise and break free as spidey. Obviously I'm looking way too much into it but that's my thoughts :)
Oh and I don't like the way ironfist looks... I don't know, it's the short hair. He needs the mask.

Well its narrowed down to shadowcat and black cat for me..(as it has been for a while now) and im going with shadowcat, i think that comment at the end of the issue was thrown in just to confuse people, black cat probably has some crazy feelings for spidey now and wants him to join her and be her man, good thought about the annual taking place before, but i think its after, pete and mj were shown at the beginning of this issue still unable to talk to one another, so im gonna have to say that this takes place before the annual..

of course i remember posting it, i think bendy was joking in a way, but if he isnt, who is to say that the relationship ISNT with shadowcat and they dont break up. There was no time table as to when spidey was gonna get it on with black cat...we all know that whoever the gf is, the relationship wont last and he will wind up with mj, so its possible to be with kitty and get with black cat whether while he has a gf, or not.
and i agree with the statements you made, but it just seems so obvious at this point..and i really feel like bendis is a better writer than just to have black cat come out and be the girlfriend without the annual being released. I think she has a fatal attraction issue.
The one point you forgot to conclude was the issue of the new girlfriend affecting other titles....ult xmen will have another mystery hero make a cameo, and i cant think of anyone better than spidey to show up in there...

You know on his site people were praising him for the Hobgoblin story. And I was maybe one of two people who gave him a hardcore thumbs down on it. I'm glad he took it to heart and realized it wasn't that great. I'm also glad he knows who is kissing his *** and who the sincere ones are when it comes to judgeing his books. Yeah, I'm with you... Hob definitely had potential, there's no doubt. The high strung situation between Harry, MJ, and Peter was well accomplished by Bendis but when it came to the cut-throat climax of it all, there was nothing left because we saw too much of Harry's backstory and got bored. YES, BORED. That's what killed it, in my opinion. I think I would have been more than fine with the Hob being just another Goblin arc, but it got boring, is all.

BB: Peter and Bart Simpson go the same spa, and get the same youth-prolonging treatments. Seriously though, in issue #100, he’s turning 16. That’s the plan as I see it, so every hundred issues, he’s another year. There’s no hurry – there’s plenty of time, and no real reason to push things. I think I said along the way that by about now, Uncle Ben’s been dead for about nine months. So…it’s been a really dramatic nine months..
i thought every 100 issues is a year since he got bit by the spider. so does that mean his b-day is on the same day as the bite

I'm pretty sure what he's saying his thought then was that *if* the Green Goblin story(s) sank, he knew he could redeem himself with a solid Kingpin arc.

I'm pretty sure what he's saying his thought then was that *if* the Green Goblin story(s) sank, he knew he could redeem himself with a solid Kingpin arc.
I'm very confused.

Okay - Bendis is saying that hew knows that crime fiction is his writing strength. He had to get through a Green Goblin story (partly because of the movie tie-in, partly because it was essential to Peter/Spider-Man's characters) and he is basically saying back then, he was unsure if he could write that kind of story. But his worries were alliviated somewhat because he knew he had freer reign after GG, and could tell a story more suited to his strength - Kingpin.
Get it now?

Does Shang Chi have the same powers as Iron Fist? It sounded like they were taught by the same person...

I don't think it was said yet. But I didn't read the issue of his first Ultimate Appearence.

No, Iron Fist's origin hasn't been covered yet in the comics, before the Warriors arc he only appeared in USM #1/2. So his origin hasn't been covered yet in the comics, but maybe we'll learn more in the Warriors arc issues that haven't been released.

What did he do in the half issue?
Tried to help some lady that got mugged and stopped by Spider-Man that thought he was the criminal. In the end of the issue he stod in front of a Cop and tried to explain the whole thing.

And the next time we saw him, wasn't he in prison?

You can disregard this as one of my "daredevil" trash threads. But...
With all that is going on in this arc. Does anyone think it's at all possibly for a quick Ultimate Daredevil Appearance? I mean are they allowed to surprise us like that?
I mean think about Elektra going all reckless and all of a sudden *Smack* a billy club hits her before she's about to kill someone and Daredevil stops her.
He wouldn't be in it long. Just continuing the DD/Elektra relationship.

It's absoluletly positive... But, would I be open to a Daredevil appearance at this point? No. I don't mean to be "hatin'" on DD, it's just that if there was one more random character that cropped up just because, I think I would put down the title. Honestly, there is a lot of random stuff going on in Warriors and I'm just waiting for all of that to be resolved before more hysteria comes along. Yes, I do realize that the arc is still in its infancy, but, still... Bendis has to know when to quit with the character appearances, right? RIGHT?

I agree and feel that there'd be too much characters but I'm not even talking about a full out like even have any dialogue. Just Daredevil being badass and Elektra gets hit looks up and you see Daredevil standing on a building top. Then Peter would go after Hammerhead or Kingpin or whoever and it would be understood that Elektra was stopped. But a real quick "Cameo" nothing more.

You know I love you - most of the time - but, again, I don't even think a cameo would be right. That would only be teasing you, if you really think about it. We'd have this fight that you're illustrating (To me, anyway) where all the key players are having it out, right? Then, all of a sudden, Daredevil shows up and randomly throws a fist or two? Sorry. He's better either in as a pretty significant character or better left alone. I know you're trying to get him into the title, but I can't say that's completely necessary at this point.
