i remember reading somewhere that this may be just about the pheonix and jean may not appear in this book. I highly doubt that. I dont mind them bringing her back that is kinda the nature of the character but why a mini series? it is just a blatent way to milk more $$ out of people. They should bring her back in the pages of one of the many x-books if they want her to return.
And this is not necessarily a return; this could be a flashback story. I didn't read the solit so I don't know.
It's supposed to come out sometime in 2005 . Again, hasn't been officially said whether its an ongoing or mini.
But if anyone has noticed, without Jean, they dont really mention or show the Phoenix.
Ok, I was thinking of this:
(All this is hypethetical)
Let's say they bring back Jean in a later arc of Astonishing. Cyclops and Emma are really into each other. Do you guys think that Jean would go with Logan, or try to go back with Scott?
All this came to my head just by looking at the sketch picture with Logan in it.
Just read in Wizard that it is going to be a mini (as I figured). It's going to be called "Dark Phoenix". It's going to be a 5 issue mini that starts in January 2005.
The writer (Greg Pak) says that it's going to be the last Jean Grey/Phoenix story--ever! Don't know if this is meant as a joke or what.
And Greg Land isn't just doing the covers, he's also the artist on the book.
man....I still haven't gotten my issue of Wizard....:( the art looks pretty good, but there is something about wolverine....not sure what it is...
I haven't got mine in the mail yet either. I couldn't wait so I bought it at the comic store.
Im kinda tired of the whole Dark Phoneix thing. I love the character but shes been dead and shes come back so many times, that its annoying. I might pick it up. Not 100% sure
It looks like it's Phoenix that's coming back, not Jean. Well...check this out:
X-MEN: PHOENIX - ENDSONG #1 & 2 (of 5)

When people say this it strikes me as funny - and I mean absolutely no offense by this - but the entire point of the Phoenix is that it dies and rises again.

It gets on my nerves when Marvel kill people off only to bring them back again later.

Yeah, that was crazy, and I totally fell for it.

XTF, surely you know about Wolvie and Jean. I know you say you don't read 616 but this is all through Ultimate X-men as well. It was on a bit of a high note because towards the end of Morrison's run in New X-men, Scott was having telepathic sex with Emma and Jean was wandering around in the woods hitting on Wolverine (rejected too).
I'm still laughing about the issue where the word sex appeared like times or something just in the background.
Again, the preview looks absolutely fantastic. i thought it was actually quite funny. For a little while, that dragonfly was capable of destroying the earth.

'Sex' appearing all over was pretty funny.
I'd have to go back and look, but I thought Scott was just thinking about having an affair with Emma - he didn't actually do it.

I'm just remembering to so i could be wrong. But that brings up the whole argument of is thinking about it just as bad, esepcially with telepaths??

I think my wife would be a little bit more annoyed with me if she caught me having sex with someone as opposed to just thinking about it.

I don't have anything against the Phoenix/Jean return. The only thing that annoys me is that they try to sell it as a big tragedy when she dies, but every reader knows that Jean is just taking a nap. Phoenix death should be treated like Kenny's death in South Park:
-Oh my god, Jean is dead!
-You bastards!!

But as of right now, in this mini, Jean is dead herself, and the Phoenix force is looking for her.

I love it.
You can just see Scott with no neck and a strange hat "You Bastards!!!"
Its great

What can kill Phoenix?
Don't mean to get all Claremont on you, but nothing can kill Phoenix. It's life incarnate; life itself. You can contain it, but not kill it.

here we go, the phoenix is energy, energy never dies it just changes form, blahdeblahdeblah.
Let me phrase the question for the not so pedantic of you out there
How would you contain the Phoenix?
I can't remember, but I do remember that the S'hiar had a way.

When is Earth going to become the smallest outpost in the S'hi ar empire?
What can kill Phoenix?
I'm unfamiliar with the specifics of the Xavier protocols. Was there a protocol for the Phoenix/Jean as the Phoenix?

Maybe. I doubt it. They would need to know everything on the Phoenix, which I don't think they did.
But still, it would only be to hurt Jean really. They might have had a way to hold the Phoenix, but not kill it. I've read in different places where people have tried to (including the S'hiar), but had no luck.

Something about the little hole leading through the wall which seperated the Danger room to the X-girls shower room?

I heard Den Perry burnt the Phoenix club down in the first series.
But then it rose in the second series.
Well, the #1 already sold-out...in just about 2 days!
But just incase there are some who didn't get it, but want it, Marvel is doing a second printing.

Not surprising really. Every hardcore X-fan will be after this story, good or bad. From what i've heard, its not too bad at all.
Nope, it's not bad at all. It really is good!! Greg Pak (writer) has even given that nerd guy who started the "Riot at Xaviers" a cameo!
And OH. MY. GOD. The art by Greg Land? AWESOME!!!!!! :D If you think his covers are great, check out the inside art! Oh man, he's gonna do sooooooo great on UFF.
Alright, thanks to DJF giving us the link to see the whole preview of UXM #55, I saw that there was a preview for Phoenix: Endsong #2 (of 5). It's the WHOLE preview. And man, I'm loving Greg Pak. The art is just so.....so beautiful.
And looks like the Quire kid is gonna have more than a cameo! You guys gotta check this out. Definetly worth getting. :P
How stupid of me to not give you guys a link, for those who want to check it out.

I actually thought the art was a bit dodgy. There were some very good bits and some really terrible bits. Plot was interesting though
P.S. Emma Frost is kinky. What a surprise
