New policy regarding comic discussion - PLEASE READ

I want to institute a new policy regarding the discussion of comics, specifically as they relate to ongoing series and the arcs therein.

I would like all discussion of comics to take place in an arc-by-arc basis. The reason for this is to make discussion of individual stories easier to take part in.

Also, this applies to all comics - including Ultimate books. No more individual issue discussion on those books. Previously that was how we dealt with things - Ultimate issues were discussed independently, and all other books were discussed in their own threads. As we move away from the Ultimate line and open discussion to more comics, this only makes sense. And as more people move toward collecting in trades, this will also make things easier for them. Also, for stories like Batman R.I.P. which take place across several books, it makes it much easier to discuss the story in one thread instead of several.

I would also appreciate if, when starting a new arc discussion thread, posters would tag the threads with the artist(s), writer(s), main characters, events (i.e. Secret Invasion), etc.

    Thanks.

One more thing - it will be fine to have a GENERAL discussion thread for any given book. There people can ask about the history, past stories and characters, etc.

Specifically regarding Batman R.I.P. - if a mod who is reading the story would mind combing through the Batman thread and moving discussion of that story to an appropriate thread, I'd appreciate it. Also, if you stumble upon other threads where current story discussion can be split off and can do so, I'd appreciate it.

It probably wouldn't hurt to merge existing CURRENT issue discussion in the UU books into single threads based on the arc. If no one does this I will later this evening or soon after.

I've never said it out loud, but this is exactly the kind of comic discussion policy I want.

    Thank you.

Is it fine to have titles that don't get that much response per issue as general discussion threads? And then if there's a lot of response for a specific arc, split it off into a specific arc discussion thread? I think this is the best way, and it's sort of what we're doing now anyway (like how the RIP arc discussion was split off from the general Batman discussion).

For example I created a thread for the 3 new Punisher MAX arcs by different writers.

Ice changed to just the one arc.

Which is fine, but I figured it wouldn't get much response.

And older titles that have already come out just create one thread? Like the Alan Moore Swamp Thing one?

This is all Bunk I say Bunk

a thread for the discussion of a title is quite sufficient, arc specific threads just create's clutter. Also any Annual or one-shot, that has the title of an ongoing verbatum should be included in the title thread.

I never got why we always had issue specific threads for the ultimate books either.

    The redundancy is mindbottling.

Not a bad idea, but there are 2 problems with this.

    1) It's a lot of work to comb through a thread and find and split off posts

    and more importantly,

    2) The potential for spoiler-ing people who read in trades increases doing it that way.
