HBO Max possibly orders Dead Boy Detectives, the DC spin-off series from Doom Patrol, but recasts the characters. Dead Boy Detectives is reportedly in production at HBO Max. The streamer has ordered 8 episodes of the ghost detective series, a spin-off from Doom Patrol. Based on the DC comics Sandman and Dead Boy Detectives, the series is described as a "new take on a ghost story that explores loss, grief and death through the lens of Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, both deceased British teenagers and their living friend, Crystal Palace. Like a vintage detective series – only darker and on acid. » Edwin, Charles and Crystal all appeared in the episode "Dead Patrol" in season 3 of Doom Patrol, but they will be played by different actors in the new series. Ty Tennant, Sebastian Croft and Madalyn Horcher played Edwin, Charles and Crystal respectively in Doom Patrol.
