I made an addition to my comment, but since it's a new page:
I won't go into detail, but Captain Marvels end credits scene is after IW, according to a spoiler comment. We assumed that from the start, really.
I am seeing CM tomorrow so no spoilers please. But I think it's safe to say that the film takes place entirely in 1995, with the exception of the mid-credits' scene?

Based on dates established in Captain Marvel, we now know that the prequel book, Captain Marvel: Starforce on the Rise, must take place sometime between 1989 and 1995. I would lean towards placing it during the latter years, since Vers seems pretty accustomed to Kree life during the book. So probably 1994 or 1995.

Do we have information from the writer on whether the book is canon?

Interesting that the mid credit scene...

seems to take place mere hours after Infinity War, judging from everyone’s haircuts and facial hair. Plus the fact that they’re still tallying deaths. Is it confirmed that Endgame is 5 years after the snap? Kinda weird that half the Avengers will already know Carol when the movie starts... maybe they sent her to find Tony?

So I think Captain Marvel takes place in September 1995.

The Stan Lee cameo suggests he was practicing his lines for Mallrats, which came out in October. Then you have Just A Girl by No Doubt playing towards the end, which was released as a single in September. Now looking through the soundtrack, I see at least one anachronism (the Hole song), so if we get better evidence for earlier in the year, I don’t think we should cling to the soundtrack too tightly.

Not that I could find, but the book does tie in pretty heavily to the film and it doesn't contradict anything. Also, we've been considering all other MCU novels as canon, so I don't know if it's necessary to try to find absolute confirmation for the canonicity of every book. I think we can assume they are canon until either someone officially denies it or a book explicitly contradicts something.

I think...

...the mid-credit scene is likely a scene that's actually in Endgame, much like they did with the post-credits scene of Ant-Man being a scene from Civil War. I highly doubt they wouldn't include Carol's initial meeting with the Avengers in the movie. Also, I don't think there has been any official confirmation of a 5-year time jump in Endgame, but even if there is, the movie will probably start shortly after Infinity War and then jump to 5 years later.

It seems unlikely that Stan would have filmed his Mallrats cameo only a month before its release. According to imdb, Mallrats was filmed between March and April of 1995.

Fair enough. Although you could assume it was a late addition and was filmed long after principal photography was completed. It surely only took a day to film, and wouldn’t require much editing.

The Cosmic Quest and Heroes' Journey books were confirmed to be canon to the MCU by their respective authors, which wasn't contradicted by Marvel, whereas Marvel clarified that Thanos: Titan Consumed is non-canon to the MCU.

I believe Starforce on the Rise is by the same author as The Heroes' Journey books, so I would think it's canon as well.

The Captain Marvel movie is set in 1995. The film makes references to films from that year as if they were just released.
Pretty weird that there's never a 1995 (or any other) timestamp. The only indications as to year (I think) is when they say 1989 was six years ago.

I posted some spoilers in the Captain Marvel thread too.

Cap Marvel is June 1995
There was direct mention to 1989 being 6 years ago, and a calendar for June whenever she got to her friends house in Louisiana
Added to the timeline. In this case, the mentions of songs/movies that came out after June 1995 are either anachronisms or they were released earlier in the MCU than in real life.
