A 'hardcore' cosplayer of Chinese-Filipino descent, Alodia Gosiengfiao (born March 9, 1988) has parlayed her intense love of anime, manga and videogames to become an Internet celebrity and an occasional model for various magazines.

Although her popularity among Filipino otaku began on the Internet and at various conventions, the scales tipped for her the most when she became Kawaii Girl on a Levi's sponsored contest of the same name on Animax Channel's short-lived Mad Mad Fun.

Nice, I wish more girls would dye their hair pink. Also, I'm sure you made up her last name just to **** with us.

Why would I do that? It's Chinese. Don't they have Chinese in your country, or do they just all go by Lee?

Honestly... yeah. I don't think I've ever met a Chinese person whose last name wasn't Lee. Seriously

I've actually seen/met more Vietnamese and Filipinos in Houston than Chinese, and the Filipinos are the only ones with a last name longer than 1 syllable.

I suspect that many people just change their name. I mean there's a long history of pre-20th century Asians shortening their name down to something like Lee or Chang either for convenience's sake or to avoid being chased by enemies or relatives from their homeland.

As for Filipinos with polysyllabic surnames, it's expected since many possess Spanish surnames with their De las-es and De los-es.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Though I suppose some of them could have been copying Bruce Lee. Posers.

Heck my grandfather changed his surname because when he got took up law, he knew that he'd need a less Chinesey name because Chinese were regarded as untrustworthy in my country back then.

So Attorney with a surname that sounds like a dim sum? No siree. Attorney with a surname that sounds like a type of pasta? Good to go!
