The End of the Ultimate Universe

I'm sure Ganke and most of Miles' supporting cast will survive. Ultimate Peter Parker and his supporting cast (Ultimate Aunt May, MJ, Gwen, etc) will all likely cease to exist at the end of Ultimate End & Secret Wars, so as not to cause confusion with the 616 versions of those characters.

In fact, I'm sure 99% of the Ultimate versions of the characters will cease to exist after Secret Wars. No more Ultimate versions of Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Jean Grey, Invisible Woman, Thing, Human Torch, etc.

I do hope Ultimate Reed sticks around, as he's literally the most interesting character (other than Miles) to come out of the Ultimate universe in the past 7 years or so. I loved the twist of making him a self-righteous villain character with a massive God complex and the abilities and intelligence to pretty much back it up.

Him staying a permanent part of the 616 universe and retaining the moniker The Maker and serving as a recurring Avengers/Fantastic Four villain would be interesting.

Yeah, I'm sure that Ganke and Miles' dad and maybe even the school Miles goes to and a character like Bombshell might survive. But Ultimate Kate Bishop can't, so that story has to change or be erased. Uncle Aaron was Ultimate Prowler, so that needs to be explained or changed. Miles got bit by a genetically altered spider from Oscorp, which doesn't fit in with the 616 universe. Also, Miles' mom died during an attack by a venom, but an ultimate version of venom, cooked up by Roxxon, not an alien symbiote. So all of that stuff, which has been fairly significant to Miles' story needs to be explored/ignored.

And Bendis said that the first arc of Spider-Man will serve as a sequel to Spider-Men, at the end of which Peter looks up Miles Morales on the internet and finds out something shocking. So I just wonder what they're going to do with all that.

Well, it doesn't really need to be explored or ignored. It just needs to be explained that he and his supporting cast originated from the Ultimate verse and now live in the 616 reality.

It would actually offer a chance for Miles to deal with the fact that he very likely can no longer even visit his mother's grave (since the universe it existed in no longer exists)... even weirder, perhaps the 616 version of Miles' mother is still alive?

There's a lot of interesting stuff they can explore with it. I think a running theme or element of "alternate reality" differences a la Back to the Future 2 (minus the time travel), with the jarring differences for Miles, can work really well both in terms of exploring the character and the new reality he resides in.

Perhaps 616 Miles is a delinquent/criminal? Maybe he's dead? Maybe he got bit by a spider and developed some form of cancer?

Hopefully Bendis makes it interesting and doesn't resort to cheap shock factor stuff.

Huh, I didn't even consider that he might know that he's from a different reality. I figured they would just fold him into the retconned history of the 616 kind of like DC did with the JSA after Crisis on Infinite Earths.

If Bendis does keep Miles as being from the Ultimate universe, then a 616 villain Miles would be cool. Or if Miles and his father died and left his mom alive. That would be all kinds of confusing for them and would be interesting to explore.

Now I have to try and remember what happened in Spider-Men. All I remember is that it was lame.

Now I have to try and remember what happened in Spider-Men. All I remember is that it was lame.

You find out that Ultimate (1610) Mysterio is really 616 Mysterio who has somehow managed to create/discover a portal between 616 and 1610 universes. He sent an avatar of himself into 1610 to commit crimes, which is why they've never been able to catch him there. Peter finds the portal and Mysterio and in the fight the two of them end up in 1610 universe. Peter meets Miles and Gwen, and Aunt May, and MJ. Emotions. Peter also meets Ultimate Fury. Miles and Peter defeat Mysterio together, and then Fury helps him get back to the 616, but he leaves Mysterio there in SHIELD's custody. Peter goes home and googles Miles Morales and is shocked at what he discovers. To be continued!

Besides the ending, I didn't think it was all that lame. It is made a little more lame by the return of 1610 Peter Parker. But then, most of what happened in Ultimate Spider-Man was made more lame by that.

I really don't think the Ultimate Universe is ending. if 616 is coming back without a reboot then why shouldn't as well? Plus this book is doom 616 and dooms Ultimate Universe. it just doesn't make sense to get rid of the Ultimate Universe

This feels like deja-vu...

616 isn't getting rebooted. DC rebooted, started completely over. Marvel isn's doing that. It won't be heroes becoming heroes all over again. The Ultimate Universe is indeed ending. Ultimate End #5 will be the last issue from that forever.

Yup. It's already been announced that Miles Morales will star in the new Spider-Man title set in the 616 (or whatever the post-Secret Wars Marvel Universe is called... I suppose Marvel Universe--assuming Secret Wars does wipe out all the alternate realities permanently).

I assume a few other Ultimate characters will make the transition, like Ultimate Spider-Woman, Bombshell, Cloak and Dagger, etc (they're all going to appear in the All-New, All-Different Avengers if memory serves right, along with Miles and a few seasoned 616 vets like Vision training the younger Ultimate characters).

But I imagine most of the Ultimate characters will be killed off by the end of Ultimate End, and very likely by the end of Secret Wars.

But don't worry, I guarantee that within 5 years they'll bring it back, much in the same way they brought back the 2099 universe.

Wait, Ultimate Jessica Drew is going to exist alongside Jessica Drew? And the Ultimate Cloak and Dagger too?

Apparently. They all were in the All-New, All-Different Avengers FCBD issue, if memory serves correctly.

No they weren't. It was the team on the cover vs Radioactive Man (whose green hand is on the cover too). Then there was the Inhumans story with Medusa, some new Inhumans, and Human Torch, plus a preview of a Max Ride story.

Do you mean that you think they'll dredge it up again some time in the future just like they do everything else? Because if so then I totally agree.

Dead is dormant.

That or we will still have an Ultimate book. Spider-Gwen's universe survived, why not Ultimate?

I must be thinking of something else. Could've swore the New Ultimates characters appeared in a recent title... maybe it was Ultimate End and I'm just confusing the two...

My buddy sent me this in a text. I can't seem to find the actual source with reverse image search though. I'm assuming something leaked.

This is supposed to be the new version of the Mighty Avengers, not anything with the Ultimate Universe. Especially since none of them are Ultimate versions.
