Not the same thing, but The Exorcist is set two years in the future of its release date.
Yeah. Honestly I'm looking for more insane time gaps of decades than just a few years. Any video games that do this I'd also be interested in hearing about

Don't forget that the Stephen King Cinematic Universe is connected too via Christine! (Think her cameo was in 4th Awakening?)

Something something Z Nation character being in Sharknado at a lower rank than she is in Z Nation.

I mean... I guess it can snow and rain at the same time. Especially in mountain range-type areas with microclimates. More concerning is the cars. 😂

The director said it's set during Resident Evil 2 and that it's not canon in that it uses the same characters but it is canon in that it's set in the same universe. Clearly he doesn't know what canon means and thinks it just refers to whether something is connected.

Problem is that if it's during RE2, the snow immediately invalidates that since the Raccoon City Outbreak canonically took place in September 1998.

Also, Baron Harkonnen, what are you doing here?!

Random question btw. How many franchises have done the "we're retroactively changing the dates of these movies to be several decades after when they were set/released.

The only ones I can think of are Taken, Mad Max and RoboCop, are there any more like that?

I think the existence of those retcons are really funny
Uhhh, Romero's Living Dead series?

When is Taken set?

The TV show
I'm looking into it right now and I'm thinking it's the 2030s if we go by actor ages in the show, with Clive Standen being in his 30s when the show premiered and Liam Neeson being in his 50s and early 60s when the movies premiered

I could see it happening like this:

2017-2018: Taken TV Show
2038: Taken 1
2042: Taken 2
2044: Taken 3

Fast and Furious. Tokyo Drift's setting was retconned into 2014.

Aren't they doing another Sharknado movie soon?

(Idk maybe it was already mentioned here and I missed it, if so mb)

Well if we're counting Christine you gotta include the Slasherverse as well… (personally I do include the Slasherverse because I don't think the parody-nature of the films overrules the connections).
Oh, and American Werewolf in London, I believe

Kinda random, but does anyone else just hate the Marvel Rivals character designs? The guys look stupidly big and over-designed while the women look like they were made for horny people... AND they're over-designed.

I feel like the only one who thinks this, though. Like... come on. Look at Daredevil. Pointless changes. Look at Punisher! I hate the face paint and I hate the weirdly big physique. Heroes Reborn Captain America should not be the vibes I'm getting.

I'm sure everyone thinks it's the coolest thing ever, though... 🥲

A lot of the movie placements here don't really make sense to me. Also uh... Why is Get A Clue a separate continuity from What's New lol.

Would you put Get A Clue before Guess Who or after?
Before. Guess Who happens in-between Return to ZI and Happy Halloween since they met Bill Nye in the show (the show also has shaggy mention Flim Flam in front of the gang which didn't happen until Curse of the 13th ghost so the earliest this show can go is after return to zombie island since they get the van back after that one) and they know him already in Happy Halloween. Curse of the 13th ghost had memorabilia from What's New in the gang's garage

I guess that list gives you a starting point.
Mystery Inc I guess would be pre-"main canon".

That does leave 9 outliers which are:
  1. Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!
  2. Live Action (Era 1) - James Gunn's Scooby-Doo
  3. Live Action (Era 2) - The "Prequels"
  4. Live Action (Era 3) - Daphne & Velma

  6. LEGO Scooby
  7. SCOOB!
  8. Velma
  9. Go-Go Mystery Machine (upcoming)
That's 10 Scooby-Doo universes right there.

Also most of the movies have to go in order because most reference previous ones at least subtly (check the wiki for each individual film and they'll list references for each), and iirc one of the films shows Velma with books they have for each of the places they visited in previous films, even the short films..might have happened in Stage Fright but I could be forgetting which one it actually appeared in

Yeah, although Be Cool is odd because Sword and the Scoob features it in the time travel scene along with every other Scooby series (and Captain caveman for some reason). Everything else though are probably alternate universes... Go Go we don't know enough about though so I wouldn't jump the gun on calling that an AU yet
