Worth pointing out that Pennyworth on HBO Max doesn't have the label of "Leaving Soon" despite the trades saying it was leaving on January 23rd. We'll see on that, but there is other stuff on the service that is leaving on the 31st that IS labeled as such.

Also, the DC logo for it updated. Unlike Doom Patrol, unlike Gotham Knights (ended a year after Pennyworth).
In other words: Prioritized. The V for Vendetta TV project in the works might be connected to this via the new "Elseworlds" label.

Pennyworth is niche but it's a beloved niche that has very vocal fans and new ones discovering it even after it was cancelled.
Rarely seen people dislike it other than some complaints about some scenes being "too dark". (So was Game of Thrones in some parts. Didn't affect it much.)

There is a market I think for at least a limited series finale, I think.
 
Why is it when I talk about Batwoman as a spiritual successor to the show Gotham, these little turds come out the woodwork in replies to remind me "Ack-tually, Gotham isn't Arrowverse."

No ****.
It's also funny to see replies to these replies of equally unselfaware folks be like "Yeaaah EXACTLY broo (*fistbump*) what a re-re lol". (Their words mind you, not mine.) Like they "got 1up" on me,

Context: Brought up the fact Richard Sionis was in Gotham and his son (Roman) was "carrying on his legacy" in Batwoman season 2.

"They're not connected"

Well, it was the same way in the comics. Black Mask's dad was a crook too.
The point of Gotham as a "backstory" is that it is a malleable, interpretive 'origin' not bound to continuity. For the most part, some of it has been taken into account for Arrowverse continuity like Mr Freeze's cyro-tests on frozen bodies and Zsasz's jovial personality. Among other things.

But clearly it's standalone. There is no "gotcha". These guys telling me the world is a circle when I know it's a damn globe.

How did you figure out the dates? I'm personally considering this series a prequel to "Superman Returns" (which I believe is more of an homage to the original Superman film series, rather than a sequel). It think it fits nicely and just wanted to know what your method was for figuring the years out?

Late reply, but I hope so. The Gotham/Pennyworth shows are peak DC television for me. It just makes sense to connect the two (Pennyworth and V for Vendetta). Even if it's subtle, like the state of London is an evolution of the settings in Pennyworth.

Weren't there literally episodes of Batwoman that were worked on by Gotham creatives?
 
Renee Montoya, Barbara Kean, and the Executioner seem like deliberate callbacks to Gotham. I don't think anyone is interpreting it as Gotham being the definitive version of past events, but it's not unreasonable to draw parallels when there's literally an actress that crosses over.

I personally think it would be better as a Superman & Lois prequel. Especially since Superman & Lois' reality has Arrowverse links, so naturally it makes sense if Krypton created that reality through time travel. Gotham Knights being an alternate version of Gotham and Batwoman's reality fits this if you assume Gotham got merged into Earth-Prime. That's going off of head-canons, though.

Barbara's older actress in Batwoman also has the SAME EXACT raspy voice as the Barbara from Gotham.

If Batwoman had gotten a 4th season, I strongly believe more connections would have been made.

In regards to Naomi, I think Dee's Thanagarian lover (Qyeala) is some distant relative of Nyssa-Vex that happens to look like her.
1.) In Krypton season 2, it was almost revealed that Nyssa's dad was actually a Thanagarian spy and before he could confirm it he was shot dead. This was to set up her true heritage in a 3rd season we never got.
2.) Qyeala is proclaimed dead midway through the season by some Rannin bounty hunter that Dee interrogates. Then "oh wait, she's alive and we just captured her" according to another bounty hunter in the series finale of Naomi. So Nyssa-Vex after ending up on a post-Rann/Thanagar battlefield in Krypton's finale was found, arrested and misidentified between those two revelations to Dee. So Qyeala is still dead, but he finds out "Oh snap, you [Nyssa] look just like her" offscreen.

Sidenote: I like to think Earth-33 is just post-Crisis Earth-666 (from the number of the beast to the age of Jesus when he died, lol) and I'd say it's funny to imagine the events of Lucifer and Naomi happening on the same Earth.
 
They mentioned a female President in Pennyworth season 2 (set in 1967), assumedly replaced Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966 (probably the stress of the Raven Society taking over London was too much for him to handle, considering LBJ's infamous cardiac issues.)

The closest I find to this being a possibility is this woman:

In the world of Pennyworth, for whatever reason, she was LBJ's VP I guess lol.

You're so damn thorough, dude. Anyway, Pennyworth has a lot of random insane random background lore constituting its alternate DC history. This seems like one of the less weird ones, all things considered.

The biggest kerfuffle of that is how this briefly mentioned alternate post-WW2 Berlin still exists without being divided by the Soviets, yet Germany still lost the war.

Me thinks it's more-or-less a very weakened version of what they were, due to that alluded deal between England and Germany in 1940 (almost happened in the real world before Churchill refused to allow it, me thinks he had no sway somehow in this timeline). England probably was forced to stick up for Germany, the creation of meta humans like Gravedigger and whatever the JSA was called on Earth-Prime since JSA as a title was implied to be fictional in Legends of Tomorrow season 6 (in 1939...) basically lead to more divide between nations; therefore no convention or Allied Control Council to prevent any vacuum of power that would lead to another...*ahem* reign from Germany, so to speak.
 
Yeah, I always found it interesting how they imply that Germany lost the war but still have a continued presence. Maybe they didn't remember that earlier implication when they mentioned Germany losing in whatever episode it was. Either way, I feel like there was a connection in my head with the semi-existent Third Reich and the Raven Society. You can't tell me that they weren't heavily based on the Nazis... I mean, look at their logo.
 
The JSA in Earth-Prime is almost entirely unknown. Gravedigger is the earliest recorded metahuman. Earth-Prime's history honestly has so many interesting implications that we never see, like Batman and Superman's relationship pre-2015.
