Pixar Theory Timeline (headcanon)

I can't link Marine Life Interviews, but it seems to take place during Finding Dory, after each character initially parted ways with Dory

Assuming J.J. is 5 in Lou and 12 in Inside Out, that places the short 7 years prior to the film

I think it should go later? "All the kids on the playground are characters from Inside Out and Finding Dory that animators tweaked slightly."

The wiki says they're kindergarteners, and the kids in Finding Dory are most likely Riley's class anyway (they're 12 in the first movie, so I just worked backwards)

I've placed UPisode 1 after the others, since it shows they're already being hunted by the dogs, yet in the others they've clearly only recently entered the jungle

If there's any children's books about the Pixar movies, I'm just gonna ignore them because 1: there'd be too many, and 2: I don't want to include them

Riley's 11 in the first movie, 12 in the epilogue.

"For this story to work, the kids had to be old enough to have meaningful social interactions with each other as well as be somewhat unsupervised at times. An elementary school fit the bill." - Dave Mullins

Is that quote for Lou? (Also, thanks for clearing up Riley's age)

If the quote's for Lou, I'd say they'd be 9-10 years old. I'll put it at 2 years prior to Inside Out, to give them time to mature

My best placement for Groovin' with Ken is that it happens at some point during the Hawaiian Holiday toon, since the Dream House is shown to be in a house, not Sunnyside.

I also forgot to mention WALL-E: Treasures and Trinkets is most likely BnL doing some form of testing on WALL-E to figure out his human nature, since it all takes place in a white space

The Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs are based on when NASA brought a Buzz Lightyear toy to space as a promotion, so I'm putting it in the same month as when they landed (September 2009). Woody never appears in the logs, so it could still be justifiably then. Though, if Toy Story 5 contradicts it, I'll either move it to after Toy Story 2, or put it in the "Real World"

Toy Story 3: Grab Bag takes place in the same white/black rooms as WALL-E: Treasures and Trinkets, leading me to believe BnL were working on the key to life. Perhaps that's how the Cars franchise fits into the Pixar Theory… then the monsters in Monsters, Inc. would've evolved from the Sea Monsters in Luca instead of humanity, since the Cars would've overrun the humans

I'm going to leave the Cars franchise where it is, for now, though if there are more white room shorts, I may move it

It'd also most likely put Purl after the humans return in WALL-E - or they were already researching life when they had to leave, and prioritised humanity over the experiments, leading to their hiatus until they returned to Earth

Coconut Press seems to have most, if not all, of the Pixar shorts on his YouTube channel, so I'll probably use that to source them out

The Wee Bits of Animation can take place literally at any point in (Brave) time. I guess I'll figure it out when I get to the detailed timeline

They're set in Andy's kid room, so I think after Toy Story 2 fits better.

this is only shown at the very beginning, and it barely shows enough to recognise it as his room. I'll move it there anyway, since Toy Story 5'll probably cause problems with it anyway

Just tying up some loose ends with the plethora of random Pixar content scattered across the internet and WOW did I strike gold with Monsters University: Monsters Mash Up. It shows a numberplate dating to September 516. Since this was an active decision made by the artists, I'm assuming it would be 20516, since 20 would be 'missing' from number plates during the time it was made. Due to BnL experimenting with life, this doesn't seem too far-fetched to me, that the evolutionary process was vastly quickened

Inside Out: Mind Candy seems to fit the criteria of BnL experimentation. However, the idea that they would even be able to tap into Riley's emotions, which wouldn't've existed for thousands of years, does seem bizarre. Although, in Inside Out, all emotions in other peoples' heads seem to be based off Riley's. A popular theory is that Riley is 22 from Soul, though I don't see how this would work. However, I do think Riley could be 1, which is why their emotions are blank slates, in terms of design. 19 gets called to discover themselves in Soul, so clearly 22 wasn't the only soul who didn't discover themselves for a long time. I think, Riley being Soul 1, is why we see her emotions in Mind Candy, as BnL are experimenting with creating life. This further leads me to believe Cars should be after WALL-E, however then the 20516 number plate wouldn't make sense existing, at least to use for a timeline reference
