Ultimate Thunderbolts

You couldn't have answered your question any more than you have already. He could use them as POW's of course. Pretty much have them do military work with collars and 24/7 watch as pay back for all the crap they've done. You know the way Fury is, he'll put a use to anything. Just like in Ultimates, what he said about Pietro and Wanda. They're not beyond making deals with terrorists, as long as the price is right. But the only price here is their lives, starring Ahnold.

I think losing his arm in her strike would make him a tad less willing to deal.

Bombs implanted in their spines or skulls, whichever. Instant forced loyalty. That's what I'd do anyway, but I'm evil.

Might not work, we don't how much of a fanatic Ultimate Mystique is, she may choose death over helping Fury. Also because Widow Fury lost his arm, there is no way Fury would allow Widow to go free, under any circumstances, I think he would rather have thugs and psychos work for him rather than let Widow out of her cell.

Considering Widow cost Fury his arm, I doubt he would ever make a deal with her, ever.

True Mystique may not play nice, but if she doesn't blow her up. No harm no foul. Replace her with someone else. I said Ross would be calling the shots, not Fury. They are the same rank if I remember right.

Here's what I don't get, how is General Ross still alive, didn't he die in the second arc of UXM?

How go to trouble on trying to control Mystique when there are cons with skills and powers that are far willing to cooperate than Mystique is, its best to control someone with both carrots and sticks, rather than merely relying on just carrots and just sticks, otherwise your wasting time and money training someone who just isn't going to work out. Also I'm sure Nick Fury can convince the President (who was nearly killed in the attack) to keep Widow out of such a group.

In UFF they said he came back on the slab and told people something like "give me back my precious bodily fluids soldier".

There are cons with skills, but Mystique would just be so damn useful. And Nick Fury may not hold too much sway after the attacks. After all his job was to stop this very thing from happening. Honestly, I'm just arguing for arguements sake at this point I'm not really that attached to Widow. Especially after Baxter brought up Electro and Sabertooth. Especially Sabertooth, he'd be better than her anyway and two elementals on the same team wouldn't work. So new line-up.

Pyro, Beetle, Mystique, Luke Cage, and Sabertooth. Good times.

Alright, whatever, everyone has a right to choose their own line up, I was just arguing for fun's sake.

**** a deal, the ***** is his own personal slave. Or she could be. Keep around the trash and give her jobs to do that will mess up her brain even more than Tony did. She'd be like Kid Marvel in YA/runaways CW arc.

I think Widow on the team would be the big twist at the end of issue 1. I don't know why most of you think it's so outrageously far fetch'd. She's one of the best covert operatives in the entire world. If Fury cut her a deal and made her his personal soldier *****, I think it would bring the ultimate dynamic to the team that The Thunderbolts are supposed to be made for (villains working as heroes).

I say Window should be on it.

I'll think of a roster but some of the other choices tossed don't make much sense to me. Beetle? Why? Because he's cool? Yes. But he hasn't even been caught yet or much less interacted with many of the people in the UU.

Who would lead this team?

Personally I would like to see an Ultimate Baron Zemo (or maybe even a resurrected Darth Red) leading the team, someone to ideologically spar with Cap.

He's right. Fury may have lost an arm. He may hate Widow, but he's a professional before anything else. He's not the kind of guy who's going to let a personal vendetta prevent him from using a valuable tool. And let's be honest, Widow is the ideal character for that sort of team. She's the premiere super-spy of the Ultimate Universe. She's been working since the Cold War, has an extensive use of networks, and a stack of experience in the field. While the other characters you guys have put forth are professional criminals, they're just scrubs when it comes to the arena of international intrigue (with two possible exceptions. Mystique possibly could have some espionage background, and Beetle seems to have worked freelance, but I doubt either of them have the experience Widow does). The fact of the matter is, she's a perfect fit.

And I don't know. Ultimate Baron Zemo leading the team seems kind of silly to me, and Ultimate Darth Red seems even sillier. It makes sense to have criminals and self-interested spies blackmailed into working for the team, but I don't buy that these ideologically driven, passionate firebrands would make any sense as a government tool.

Sabertooth should be on the team.

Black Widow - The first arc should focus on what remains of the outpost visited in Ultimate Nightmare. This is why Widow is called in.
Bullseye - He's somewhere in the Ultimate Universe. But you know I'm just being a fanboy.
Sabertooth - Wolverine's his father and recently he's been seen to show some healthier emotions.
Venom - Redemption story. Eddie Brock's done some stupid **** but he's not a bad guy.
Vulture - former SHIELD agent anyway
Multiple Man - Because he should be in every situation withstanding plus it hurts to always see him as a villainous henchmen. Let's get some depth out of Maddrox, who is clearly on at least everyone's top 10 favorite mutants.

Subject to change because a lot is going down with Venom Vs. Black Panther, Grand Theft America, and what have you but I think they're pretty logical choices.

Pfft, fanboys...jk. I actually like all the choices. But would Fury be directly involved or would you have someone like Fontaine or Dugan reporting to him about the team initiatives?

Okay I guess you have a point, I suppose BW should be on the team and Fury would allow her on and I guess you can have a ton of tension between and Fury. But Fury should intentional try to cause a lot of trouble for Widow and try to make her life a living Hell while getting some use out of her. But the rest should be non military, thugs and psychos like Shocker and Bullseye, a lot of the ultimates had no military training (Iron Man, Thor) and watching a team made up of professionals (BW), thugs (Shocker) and psychos (Bullseye) would be more entertaining then just watching a team of just military professionals.

However I disagree with you about Zemo, he could easily be revamped to fit the ultimate thunderbolts, afterall he doesn't have to be a Baron in the Ultimate Universe. Here'sd how I would handle him:

Colonel (or Oberst in his native Germany) Helmut Zemo was head of Germany's secret anti terrorism unit for many years. In 1980s he helped the West German goverment fight communist backed terrorist groups and in the 90s he fought Islamic terrorist groups on behalf of the new united German government. His track record was amazing and soon he was named as one of the leading military personal in the field of anti terrorism in all the Western world. In 1999 he was let go of his position for being overzealous, (using torture on suspects before it became in vogue) which made him somewhat bitter towards the German government. However in recent times overzealosiness has become less of problem. General Nick Fury hires Colonel Zemo to head his black ops team the Thunderbolts.

Fury's always involved. And I would definitely throw The Tinkerer in there for the teams Q. He won't be involved so much but he could come up with gadgets to restrain any of the characters thinking about defecting and other toys for them to play with.

Well, I don't doubt Fury will be involved. I'm just saying will there be someone in between like Dugan or something. Like a head of the Thuderbolts Program. You got the leader of SHIELD: Fury. You got the field commander: ***** Widow or Zemo. YOu have Bond Q: Tinkerer. But who is the head of the Thundebolt program?
