We just got Tivo today. :D We can't record yet, but the pausing/rewinding is awesome. I also love the way it tells you what you're watching. Tivo is going to change my life.

Seriously.

I know the feeling. It's one of those things that most people think they don't need, but once they get it, they wonder how they lasted so long without it.

I don't like Tivo, because that's all Green Goblin and Kingpin talk about in USM.

Seriously.

How come you can't record?

I always heard people say that it changes how you watch TV, etc etc like Aeroth said but I would have never believed it until my wife got it for me last Christmas. It is totally true.

If you have a Series 2 box you can download a program called Tivo Desktop that lets you transfer recordings from the Tivo over your network to your computer to watch them. It's awesome.

I don't like how Tivo charges a monthly service fee, do I didn't get Tivo. Instead, I turned one of my old desktop PC's into a PVR recorder. For $50 + the price of a TV tuner I can do everything Tivo can only I don't have to pay every month for it.

Beyond TV 4 is pretty good and it comes with a lifetime subscription to their channel guide.

What exactly does the Tivo company offer that would cause you to have to pay every month? The only think I can think of is the guide, and that alone is NOT worth the price.

At anyrate, I definitely agree that PVR and recording "Tivo style" is definitely something that you could not understand unless you have it. However, if you are thinking about getting Tivo, consider building your owen PVR recorder out of an old PC with Beyond TV 4. Tivo can't burn the recorded stuff to DVD's can it?

By the way, you hook your computer up to the TV in case you're wondering about that, it's just as good quality, works just as fast etc. Look into it.

Not that I know of. I don't have TiVo per se but I have a digital video recorder thru my cable company. I know I can't transfer anything to computer or DVD yet. It has the set up....just not the programming.

But whatever...ya know...

The fact remains....once you go to digital recording---you won't....NO. You CANNOT go back.

Ours can. Its the DVD-R version. My sister is planning to get all of LOST's next season on DVD and the second season of Tom Goes to the Mayor.

My cable company finally got the DVR equipment back in! I can finally have my precious DVR service again!

I was dying without it!

And just in time for 24, Prisonbreak and Heroes to start up again!!!!!!

This calls for a 'woot'.
