Well, as of the latest Solicits Manhunter and Firestorm are canceled. In addition according to Lying in the Gutters Hawkgirl is up on the choping block as well. This makes me nervous. Some of the DC titles I'm really enjoying aren't selling a whole lot better. Jonah Hex only did 100 more copies than Hawkgirl did in November.

And I wouldn't hold out much hope for The Boys. 3600 copies that month.

I don't read any of those books, so it doesn't really bother me. What DOES scare me is that I believe All-New Atom and Shadowpact are lagging in sales. I REALLY hope nothing happens to them, because they're a couple of my favorites.

I wouldn't be as worried about Jonah Hex and The Boys. Jonah Hex is the only western book out right now, and even if it has low sales, it fills a niche. I'm sure they went into Jonah Hex expecting the demographic to be smaller, since it's a less popular genre.

And The Boys is a Wildstorm Imprint. I'm pretty sure the expectations for Wildstorm sales are significantly lower than for DCU books.

Yeah, but. . . 3600 copies a month?

I love Shadowpact. In my mind, Bill Willingham can do no wrong these days. And it certainly seems to be getting pushes, with the Infinite Holiday Special and Helmet of Fate appearances. But in all likelihood it won't see the end of year two.

Yeah. And I'm scared. VERY scared. Plus, we have Helmet of Fate coming up soon, which means Shadowpact will no longer be the only book pimping the magical aspect of the DCU.

And I never picked up Infinite Holiday Special. Is it worth looking into?

I liked it. And not just the Shadowpact story. There's a great Ty Templeton Elseworld's Batman/Superman story that's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

Plus the Flash is pretty good, but Simpsons Comics writer Ian Boothby, and there's a Green Lantern story which has the best art John Byrne's done in years.

Is there anything that actually affects continuity or is it all just rollicking good fun?

Just good fun, I guess. Although the stories do take place in (specific places in) continuity. If you're a Shadowpact fan you shouldn't skip it.

Well, I enjoy rollicking good fun as much as the next guy. If the comic shop has it, I'll pick it up on a slow week. Otherwise, no big loss. Thanks for the head's up.
