Robert Kirkman previews Ultimate X-Men #80.

From his column Buy my Books at CBR, Robert Kirkman (Walking Dead, Invincible) previews 3 pages from Ultimate X-Men #80(Yanick Paquette, Ben Oliver- pencilers).

Here we've got some sweet pages by Yanick Paquette, Serge LaPointe and Stephane Peru, featuring the introduction of a new character into the Ultimate Universe. These guys are doing a great job on the book.

Whenever you say something positive, it totally screws with my head.

Wait, you have it all wrong. The Morlock story begins with #82. This is part 2 of "Aftermath."

Well then right on...

I was hopeing they'd use the Movie-verse Pyro as inspiration though. He's probably one of the most interesting characters in X-Mythos. If not as an X-Man, I think he would've been perfect as mutant under Moira McTaggart's care.

Let's see where we're at here with him though. It's about time.

So we got Pyro vs. the Friends Of Humanity!?... I not sure about this. Just seems like some random Ultimizing. So we can see what Nightcralwer has been up to since he left.

Orson Scott Card.

Looks awesome... Pyro looks different, but in a good way. In my opinion. Should be great. Can't wait to see where this title is going! :)

Ultimate Pyro's a Morlock? And a burn victim? I don't know how I feel about that. Sure the story will be good/great though.

Kind of makes sense. I'm pretty sure 616 Pyro wasn't immune to fire, he could just control it. If its the same in the Ultimate-verse, I assume when his powers first started to manifest he couldn't control them and horribly burned himself (and possible others).

This has been addressed with many of the mutants first coming into their powers (Kitty especially).

It looks awesome. I love Yanick Paquette.

Agreed. He just might be my favorite artist on UXM so far.

Not saying you're wrong, but with only three pages previewed and absolutely no dialogue, don't you think you're judging a bit prematurely?

Looks interesting. Man, Paquette's art rocks! Especially his Nightcrawler!

The art looks good, but I don't trust Kirkman not to **** up another ultimization.

the linework reminds me a bit of stuart immonen. not identical, but there are some similarities.

I see a cross between Mark Brooks and Stuart Immonen each time I look at pages by this guy... Not a bad thing, either.

I think you're right. The Magical arc was where I started reading UXM. I've seen some people criticizing him, but this book is awesome and it looks like the trend is continuing.
