I apologize if this has already been discussed to death.... I don't go into the comic discussion forums much.

Which do you prefer in general? I think organic webbing was definitely the way to go for the movies, but for all other Spidey stories I prefer web-shooters. If nothing else, the fact that he can make different kinds of web fluid for different situations is vital.

Now that he has organic spinnerets in the comics, are they just going to stop writing stories where he has to use special types of web fluid? I always liked those.

Also, the ick factor is an issue for me....:miffed:

Both kind of suck. Organic webbing is incredibly unrealistic, especially stemming from his forearms. Mechanical Web Shooters have even less realism to them, as a teenager could never invent something like that. And if he could, then he obviously wouldn't experience the monetary problems that Peter Parker does.

Wikipedia said:
In 1994's Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Parker explains that when he became Spider-Man, he also became subconsciously aware that a combination of certain enzymes would create a strong, sticky fluid reminiscent of a spider's webbing.

I kind of like that. It explains why he hasn't thought up any other miracles formulas, at least.

Homemade Web-Shooters and Web Fluid. Maybe unrealistic but so is a man with spider powers.

The way I see It Web-Shooters was always better as it gave him a weakness so to speak. If he ran out or if they were crushed then he couldn't use them and that lead to him been put in more danger.

Organic webbing works for the black suit or venom as that got rid of his weakness but in normal costume I have to go with Web-shooters , even If i am currently doing a story with Organic (Archaic Spider-man)

It all depends.

Personally, I think the organic aspect killed a part of the character. Before, the web shooters and web fluid brought the important "science nerd" aspect of Peter Parker forward.

Seeing Spidey run out of fluid in mid-fight and then have to rely on just his brains to get him outta the situation and not just a "lemme web you up a lot whilst I make witty retorts" character.

It added to the danger/drama of the fight when you saw him all outta web. To be quite honest they took a lot of stuff away from Spidey. Thus taking away not just gadgets and gimmicks....but a small essence of the character himself.

He's become less "everyday/geek man" and now he's all "better than you since '82". It's kinda hard to describe. So in short----science FTW.

I agree. Also I liked it when he had impact webbing.

At least he can still use the impact webs with his organic spinners. No idea how, though.

In other news, I just realized I accidentally made this thread in the General DC forum instead of the General Marvel one. If a mod could please move this that'd be great.

I really liked the Ultimate version, where it eliminated both of the problems. Organic webbing is inherently stupid, period, full stop, but it also eliminates the unrealistic aspect of a teenager coming up with that on his own just to make a prop for his TV show. He stays a genius nerd without seeming unrealistic.

Why's this in the DC forum?

Edit: Yeah, what Planet-man said.

I seem to be the only person that like the fact that he's actually more spider-like with the organic shooters/more spider based powers. Hell, Stan Lee himself has said it was a brilliant idea, and the only reason why he didn't think of it was he knew nothing about spiders.

I honestly love how people try to use the fact that Peter has powers to justify the "realness" of a 16 year old kid creating military level tech, and an adhesive 3M would kill for. Seriously, the web shooters were one of the biggest reason why I hated spider-man.

Web shooters rule. He tried selling them but no one was buying because the webbing dissolved after an hour. Despite what JMS thinks. He also thinks Aunt May's maiden name is Fitzgerald. 'Nuff said!

Something that powerful that can be kept indefinitely until it hardens upon application and is biodegradable? Who wouldn't want it? Even if you couldn't think of anything to do with it, a talented chemist could probably improve it, and I for one would want to hire its creator. I think USM also deals with that because Ultimate Peter doesn't have the money troubles of 616 Peter and there also might be people who knew what his father was working on and would put two and two together.

the shooters

i always found it funny when pete'd run outta fluid just casually swinging around in mid-swing, then he'd fall and land in a dumpster or something

Then vote for it! Vote or die!

He knew spiders had webs.... but didn't know the were organic?:?

Also, this is a pretty awesome diagram of the organic spinnerets I found on Wikipieda. Just ignore the stingers and stupid stuff he got after The Other.

This thread is irrelevant.

The real question is

Where should Spider-Man's webs come out of instead of his wrists?

His nostrils

or

The back of his foot

or

His right butt cheek

Then vote for it! Vote or die!

To be fair, some spiders do have their own custom-built mechanical web-shooting apparatus.

Yeah man. Where you been? It all happened even before the CW Iron Man suit.

It's all documented in "The Others" saga. Probably one of the worst things I've read about Spidey since the introduction of Venom.

Go ahead and wiki that mess.

What was the point of the Spider-stinger things? I've never even seen him use them (after the Other).

Comic continuity is like a pair of two-year-olds with paper mache. They wont make too big of a mess if you keep an eye on them, but leave the room for a few minutes and BAM!... you've got a very sticky kitchen to deal with.

The post Planet-man almost wrote: Comic continuity is like Ourchair and a pile of Gap catalouges. He won't make too big of a mess if...

I know The Other was supposed to be ****ed up...

...But this is incredibly retarded.

What does the venom do? Does it kill people? Because that would be stupid.

It would be like giving Batman a handgun for Christmas.

"Oh, thanks...No, no. It's really nice...Yeah, I do like..guns..."

I found that This sums it up better.
