So, I wanted to tell you guys about my experiences at some of the recent cons I went to that no one else even seemed interested in, and I figure a lot of us make trips to some of the smaller, lesser known cons.

Over my trip to New York City the last two weeks I stumbled upon The Big Apple Con on June 23-24th. It was pretty small, nothing compared to Emerald city Comicon, which is the biggest con in the Northwest, but none the less it was fun, there were no guests from the comic industry whatsoever, but the dealers had some really nice stuff, and I was able to snag the Longshot miniseries, which I had been looking for for many years now. I made a few rounds, took a picture with some chick dressed as a horrible-looking Lobo, and found a place that sold bootlegged dvds, and was able to get the entire X-men, Spiderman and The 80's TMNT animated series's, along with both Death Note feature films for a grand total of $50. I had a lot of fun and got to meet a few (very few) TV personalities as well (Eddie Munster, anyone?).
Next up: Seattle Comicard Convention!

I went to both Motor City Cons last year (one in spring, one in fall) and they are decent...perfect for me to take my son to, let him see the costumes and whatnot, pick up a few toys for him and TPBs for me, and generally make a day of it.

Too bad the food there sucks. Hopefully Chicago will be better.

The food at Chicago sucks too, but there is a McDonalds and Dennys a little down the road.

Blech.

Better than crappy boiled hot dogs...but still, I can't imagine it's worth the hassle of leaving and getting back in for McDonalds.

It's not much of a hassle, the McDonalds is in walking distance, really, plus I'll have my car at the hotel so I could leave and come back all day long if I liked.

I guess I was assuming there are like, lines and stuff to get out and in.

Not when you have your ticket. You just walk in and out as you please. You don't even need to use the front door.

Cool. Is getting in and out of the parking garage as easy? I'll probably use the one you were telling me about.

...I like boiled Hot Dogs.

The Pittsburgh Con used to be what the Big Apple Con sounds like. Good priced back issues and (then) VHS Bootlegs as far as the eye could see. And a 24 hour movie room you could crash in if you were sneaky... I miss those days.

My mom is getting iffy about me coming down to Chicago, which is making me grumpy at her.

I should buy my ticket now, so I can say its too late for me not to be allowed to come down.

Lie , Say "Change of plan , It's been held *Insert where ever you live* and I'm going to stay at the hotel with friends"

Simple , You have to lie to your mother or she wont trust you.

Would she really forbid you from going?

No, but she could say that I can't stay in her apartment down there (especially if she's not around that evening).

If I have to get a hotel room, then I def. can't go... So its staying at my mom's apartment or nothing at all.

Again, I have a hotel room already for anyone who wants to crash. . .

My Mom's saying she's going to make SURE that she'll be in town so I can crash at her place.

So it's definitely me, 75% sure that Shade's coming with...
