Behold thine decrees of this godly challenge....

1) The winner of the last round becomes the moderator of the round, and thus gets to choose the property or story in question to be adapted. Winner may also declare whether this property is an animated film, or a live-action one. He must also name the core characters to be cast, which should be at least 4, but no more than 9.

2) Participants may not use actors who have played the role before in the same medium before. Voice talents may not reprise their role, nor can film/TV ones.

3) After the time period set by the moderator, the round is declared closed. People will vote via PM and send it to the moderator, who will count the votes and declare winner. Like the Ultimatization Game, you CANNOT vote for yourself. REMINDER: Moderators don't vote either.

4) The winner declared gets to choose the property in the next round.

The Gods decree that thou shall cast a remake of the epic---

CLASH OF THE TITANS

You must cast the following:

Perseus - Our Intrepid Hero

Andromeda - The Classic Princess In Peril

Calibos - Spoiled Son of the Goddess Thetis, Turned Monster

Zeus - Duh!

Thetis - Vain Greek Goddess of the Sea

Medusa - Famed Snake Lady

Round ends 7 July 07 @ 8pm (Central Time). Voting begins @ 9pm (Central Time)

Never seen this but I think I can do something cool with it (I hope)

Clash of the Titans

Perseus -Hayden Christensen . To me Perseus is a lot like Hercules. Had this been a few years ago I would of cast Kevin Sorbo for that reason. Then I started to think ok that work. I needed a fairly descent actor who can make you believe in a fantasy world . Hayden did that in Star wars.

He also has the right look for a son of a god which again is important.

Andromeda – Cate Blanchett , Even If I am not fan of the Lord of the rings films I still liked her work in them as Galadriel who was also royalty so I think she would be the best one for the job as the Princess in this film

Calibos human form – Orlando Bloom He looks like the typical handsome prince and can play an arrogant role well. Also he is a good actor so it would be cool to see how he deals with the turmoil in this film of loosing his looks.

Calibos monster – Lou Ferrigno , This will be done a mixture of prosthetics and cgi. This choice was to make this film feel more older I wanted the old hulk to do this give it the old time movie feel but also with cgi make it grounded and something for today's audiences. The voice would be Orlando Bloom's but ran through a computer to make more monstrous BUT still alowing us to feel his human side within

Zeus – Ian McKellen , I know this is an obvious choice and I've used him before a few times but I think he has the right feel to him to make him Zeus. I ironically thought of Kevin Sorbo first as a nice head up (He played Zeus's son now he's older) but then I thought NO NO Ian McKellen is perfect.

Note : picture = with that beard as that is exactly how I picture Zeus

Thetis -Tilda Swinton , I picked her as her role as white witch in The Chronicles of Narnia proved she is a good fantasy film actress and again is right for how I see this character been. Thetis is a goddess and so I feel she needs an aura of arrogance mixed with been tough.

Medusa
– mixture of cgi and live action , Grey DeLisle , She is attractive like some people have made Medusa look in sculptures but due to fact she is a monster I wanted someone who's voice could be intimidating. The best choice for this was Grey DeLisle as I see Medusa having the same voice as Asajj Ventress from the clone wars cartoon.

Hera – Patricia Heaton , Hera Zeus's wife should be attractive , younger than him but not too young. I would say around middle age. Patricia Heaton is all that and fairly good actress. This is not one of the big ones mentioned but an important character none the less

Aphrodite – Reese Witherspoon, Aphrodite needs to have a fairly pure and innocent look to her while been hot. It's hard to find a balance between the two but I think she can pull it off.

King Akrisius – John Glover the human king angry at Zeus , I needed a guy who if there was an argument could stand up to Ian McKellen's Zeus , John Glover is a strong enough guy to do that while still been the king type character.

Director – Ridley Scott for his work on Gladiator I feel he could make this in to an epic movie.

Screenplay/story David Benioff (troy) and David Franzoni (Gladiator) The two of them together should make a cool team for this film.

Just like Mole, I'm casting this "blind" -- I haven't seen the original (though I must admit that I'm somewhat intrigued, after reading up on it). I'm going for high-budget popcorn epic, with a hint of old-school Hollywood grandeur.

Clash of the Titans

THE HEROES

perseus.jpg

Heath Ledger as Perseus. He just seems right for the part.

thallo.jpg

Benjamin MacKenzie as Thallo. Channeling the misplaced anger of his O.C. character into this noble soldier, a warrior loyal to Perseus, in his deadly quest.

ammon.jpg

Michael Gambon as Ammon. Bringing the sagely, mentor-like wisdom of his role as Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films. This poet is mentor and travelling companion to our intrepid heroes.

andromeda.jpg

Rachel Nichols as Andromeda. Nichols is most commonly recognized as a skilled FBI profiler, on the short-lived, under-rated crime drama, The Inside.

THE VILLAINS/ANTAGONISTS

calibos.jpg

Henry Ian Cusick as Calibos. Granted, it's a major departure from his role as time-jumping fan-favorite Desmond on Lost. Nevertheless, i'm confident that Cusick can bring the necessary arrogance -- and perhaps even a hint of pathos -- to the role of the malevolent prince-turned-monster.

acrisius.jpg

Harry Hamlin as King Acrisius. Brings the cast full-circle, as the actor who played the hero of the 1982 original has now been re-cast as his deceitful grandfather (in a flashback that serves as the opening sequence of the movie). Appropriately, Hamlin is known to younger audiences as Logan's menacing, two-faced father, on Veronica Mars.

medusa.jpg

Helena Bonham-Carter as Medusa. The veteran of various witchy roles in Tim Burton movies -- most notably, Big Fish -- makes her a natural choice to play the tragic gorgon, at once freakishly beautiful and demonically lethal.

thetis.jpg

Helen Mirren as Thetis. Most recently seen collecting various awards for her role as The Queen of England, in last year's biopic, The Queen, Mirren adds a touch of class to this big-budget epic.

Argh! The system doesn't allow me to include more than 10 images in a single post. Not very conducive to casting an epic remake like this. Moving on, we have:

THE PANTHEON

I'm getting too lazy to explain my individual choices. Hopefully, the reasons will be self-evident...

zeus.jpg

Jonathan Pryce (Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrow Never Dies) as Zeus.

hephestus.jpg

Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Hephestus.

aphrodite.jpg

Jessalyn Gilsig (Nip/Tuck, Boston Public, Heroes) as Aphrodite.

Great choices compound I especially love the Heath Ledger as Perseus choice

I really want to post in a Dreamcasting thread, but you guys are so much better than me at it, it's futile. ;) All my casts would be from old noirs and spaghetti westerns.

I love Clash of the Titans. Keep in mind that this is my first Dreamcasting though...

Perseus - Lukas Haas - Totaly on the merit of the below picture, but those of you that have seen Brick know he's a capable actor.

LukasHaas_Ausse_764874_400.jpg

Andromeda - Bryce Dallas Howard - I like Howards almost otherworldly look from The Lady in the Water. I think she'd make an excellent aetherial princess.

Calibos - James Callis - I think the defacto villain of the Battlestar Galactica remake could do an excellent job of this role, allowing him to show a bit more evil and a bit less crying.

0000028023_20060922002706.jpg

Zeus - Anthony Hopkins - I went with Hopkins because he's got the look down perfect, and as we've seen in the Hannibal films he's not afraid of over acting a bit.

instinct.jpg

Thetis - Anjelica Huston - I wanted to cast Tilda Swinton in this role but Mole beat me to it. Damn you Mole! This one was pretty hard as I wanted a slightly older actress, not young, but anyone over about 30 either disappears or is making a career out of being the older woman. I decided to go with Anjelica Huston as I can really see her raging at Perseus through the film

238004~Anjelica-Huston-Posters.jpg

Medusa - Kathleen Turner - I wanted someone who could be an intimidating ***** when she wants to, so it was this or Glenn Close. I think Turner's voice fits the part more. Medusa would be done almost totally with prosetics, as the majority of the effects would be put to the Jim Henson Creature Shop.

I had to read that a second time, because it TOTALLY didn't register at first.

But I'd be totally cool with that casting :D

Nice cast Baxter , Anthony Hopkins as Zeus and Anjelica Huston as Thetis are especially great choices dude. Also don't worry about it been your first one. My first one http://www.ultimatecentral.com/forum/showpost.php?p=225564&postcount=8

was horrible , So horrible in fact I think I think it's the worst one ever! and I think I've gotten better so there's nothing to worry about there.

Baxter FTW!

I was totally impressed by the strength of his casting, other than Kathleen Turner, who I find rather dull and blah (as opposed to annoying or inappropriate for the role). Definitely one of the most impressive first efforts i've read.

BUMP!

My apologies to all for not keeping up with this over the weekend. Stupid airshow.

Anyways....I'll leave this open until the end of the day today for anyone who wants to do a last minute entry.

This closes at midnight tonight (Central time) and voting begins. Voting ends at midnight Tuesday.

Sorry. I guess I should drop everything I'm doing, including bleeding out my ***, and post here.

Anyways.....Baxter wins.

And it was more towards the fact taht there were 3 entries on this one. :?

Meh. My rounds are always like that. I post an idea and everyone runs.

I remember when it was my turn to host the last Ultimization round. I chose Jack Flagg. Only 2 people posted anything.......I was one of them.

The most successful round I've done is my "Nextwave" round.

Nobody wants to play my reindeer games.
