Discworld

Really looking forward to Sam Raimi's post spidey 3 project. Wee Free Men! I know its one of the younger books, but it could pave the way to great things if Raimi lands it...
Was discussing with a mate earlier who could play who in a DW movie..
Ridcully - Brian Blessed.
The Bursar - Jim Carrey (with old age makeup..)
Vimes - Bruce Campbell
Rincewind - Eric Idle.

any more?

I want Terry Gillam's Good Omens to come out before Wee Free Men ever does..

But I do love the Discworld novels. Hell, I even hunted down Strata, wich in the pre-internet at my house age wasn't the easiest thing to do. I prefer the death series myself, but the stand alone books (such as Going Postal, Small Gods and whatnot) always seem to catch me just right. Except for Monsterous Regiment. Never did get throught that one.

Soul Music was great, and Mort. I remember hearing about the plans to have Mort made into a film. They were having meetings with Mr P, and were singing the books praises n such, when they turned around and said "Ok Mr Pratchett, we want to make this book into a film. But there is one thing... can we tone down the whole 'Death' thing?"

Terry got up, and walked out.....

Monsterous Regiment was pretty boring and predictable.

His latest, another Tiffany adventure, is good. All these Tiffany books are simply a young girl coming of age. Her first book was her dealing with a loved one's death. The second book was her learning her identity, this third book is about love and relantionships.

So far, so good, let's see where they go.

The next book due out is about Moist von Lipwig, and called Making Money

It took me like two years each to get through Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic but I read Equal Rites in a few days. I'll get Mort sometime soon.

They're pretty fun books to read, a nice distraction from the heavier stuff, and perfect for reading at work.

I really like Pratchett! Been reading most of the Discworld-novels, except some of the newer ones I haven´t got to yet. My favourites is probably the Witch-books (Wyrd Sisters and the rest of them). I also can recommend the Truckers-trilogy by the same author - they´re essentially childrens books, but very funny and entertaining.

The Hogfather TV adaptation was fantastically done, and every Pratchett fan I have spoken to has agreed with me.
If you look hard enough I SO HUNTed for it online and found a version to watch so gave a look, you might find it....lol!!

The Guards books have always been really good as well.

I wish I were British.

There have been, what, a dozen, two dozen high quality radio plays and/or movies based on Pratchett books? You know how many I've seen? Two. Weird Sisters and Soul Music. I can barely remember the second one.

That's awful.

My best to him and his family.

Actually, the good news, they caught it early, there are plenty of exercises and meds that will slow, and in some cases halt, the progression of Alzheimer's.

As he said, he'd not dead yet.

****. That sucks. My best wishes go out to Terry and family.

I know it's a very human thing to say "Is there anything I can do", but in this case I would only entertain offers from very high-end experts in brain chemistry.
Classic Pratchett there...lol
