ANGEL: After the Fall (Spoilers for fifth season finale)

Second off, the reason you don't like the show it that it use big words that you don't understand, therefore you don't understand what is going on.

I love noobs. The irony of this post is so thick that I can only cut it with a lightsaber.

Third off, this is the ANGEL thread, not the BONES thread. If ya what to made a BONES thread, you can do so in the TV spot.

The only reason he brought it up was the fact that he was discussing the difference between Boreanz character in the 2 shows. It's totally fine so long as the whole topic isn't carried off into a giant "Bones" discussion.

So you can just calm down there Ultimate Dark Squirrell......or whatever you've decided to name yourself this time.

First off, it isn't the Smithosian, it the Jeffersonian.

You've been infracted for this, and I would heartily recommend and apology to Bass and a promise to not do something like this again.

He got infracted for that post? Really? It's not even that rude. And he's right in two of his three points.

First off, it isn't the Smithosian, it the Jeffersonian.

I haven't seen the show in months. I only remembered their names because you put them in your post.

Second off, the reason you don't like the show it that it use big words that you don't understand, therefore you don't understand what is going on.

Without much hyperbole - nor much anxiety in the falsehood of the following claim - I can categorically state that the erudite nature of the show, nor its verbose use of a plethora of jargon suited to the forensic, medical, and archaeological scientific fields, was in any way a problem for me to follow the shallow "whodunnit" mysteries that it used.

You're absolutely right. I did take it off topic. My bad.

Big fan of Mark Bagley yes?

Angel rocks. Can't wait for the first issue.

and back on topic we go.

I read the first issue.

It sucked.

Ok...it didn't suck as bad I'm making it sound. But it certainly didn't live up to the already low expectations I had.

Unlike Whedon's "Buffy Season 8" this new series doesn't grab you and put you at ease with it's familiar tone and inject you with nostalgic feelings of a long lost love.

Maybe it's because it's not actually by Whedon? I mean the premise is plotted by Whedon...but the script is by someone else. But how does this differ from the show you ask? Simple---this book doesn't have that "loving touch". It doesn't feel like Whedon. It feels like a spinoff of a Whedon property just with his blessing.

There really wasn't any humor. Not that the story was requiring humor.

Basically the book is picking up a month or 2 after the big battle in the the series finale.

Angel has apparently tamed the dragon. Which is a small victory compared to the fact that Wolfram and Hart literally unleashed hell on L.A. Los Angeles has become a post-apocalyptic hellhole where demons run free and humans are slaves.

Angel flies around on his dragon saves a few people and then directs them to a safehouse.

Angel then goes back to Wolfram and Hart and does.......whatever. All while Wesley looks over Angel's shoulder. Well Wesley's ghost anyways. It seems he now works for Wolfram and Hart and has gone intangible much like Spike was.

Connor is running a safehaven for humans along with Nina and Gwen. Gunn seems to be saving people from demons....only to eat them later because Gunn is now a vampire. SURPRISE!

Yeah.....sounds confusing and slightly mediocre huh? Well it is.

And I haven't even begun to rip the art a new one. The art is horrible. Just plain horrible. I can't even begin to describe how bad and sketchy it is.

I'll give the book up to the end of the new arc to get on track....but as it stands right now:

1.5/5

Yeah. That bad.

At least Big Bad Goblin will love it.

Here's to hoping he won't be back to challenge the fact that his precious Angel book sucks golf balls thru garden hoses.

*crosses fingers and wishes*

Eh, I didn't think it was that bad. It wasn't great, but it was passable. It definitely isn't as good as Buffy Season 8, though. And hell, even that isn't completely by Whedon. BKV is doing the current arc and it's better than this.

I dunno. After reading it, I kind of feel they should have just left Angel alone. They should have brought in Angel and Spike into Buffy Season 8 and left it at that.

Anyone noticed an increase in banned members topics getting replies? just kinda funny

I think the ambiguous ending to NOT FADE AWAY was great. And having something that picks up after that just seems to lessen the dramatic impact it had.

And for the record....I wasn't really a giant fan of Whedon's first arc for season 8. BKV's current arc is totally rocking me.

So, anyone else still reading this?

Honestly, I have no idea where it's going. Gunn seems to be the Big Bad although. . .in a city full of demons, that just seems really stupid.

Since they decided to this comic, the Wolf, the Ram and the Hart need to be the Big Bads. Season 5's ending was great because Angel beat them at their own game. Since this comic exists, he needs to beat them physically. Maybe with Illyria taking their place. And Wesley being freed from his contract. And Gunn getting killed.

Next week is #3. We'll see if it gets better.

It's very bizarre I will admit.

Spike the Pimp seemed very... bizarre..
And Gunn's weird "I don't have a soul, but I'm still good, honest... oh did I pull your face off" attitude....

hmmm.

Bizarre.

Or the fact that Spike is Illyria's "pet".

Um. . .really? Spike let himself become her "pet"?

Yeah unless it was just Spikes' way of surviving the fall into HelL.A, signing up as her pet so that he had backup from an Old One seems a good plan to me...

Angel survived on his own. And tamed the ****ing dragon to boot.

This is why Angel is better than Spike. :p

So, uh, anyone read #3?

Yeah. It was awesome. Much better than the set-up issues that were #1 and #2.

Spoilers?

Illyria and the Dragon fight. Oh, and the Shanshu Prophecy came true. Angel's human now. Except he still has all the strengths of a Vampire and none of the weaknesses. Like Connor. Yeah. CRAZY.

WTF? Theres a major poblem with that point.

Angel signed Shanshu away.

True. But, who's to say that "signing it away" wasn't what triggered the Shanshu in the first place? He decided to do good for good's sake rather then for a reward. Plus, how the hell do you sign away a prophecy? Either way, I'm sure it'll be explained.
