Should Ultimate Roderick Kingsley become a major villain in USM?

You know, probably. This is like the fourth in 24 hours.

No. Overlord's doing a great job of continually creating threads with proper potential for discussion. If you've not got much to say regarding the thread topic, probably best not to post. :)

This is somethng I just thought of in the Ultimate Six thread, but i would rather discuss it here, than there. With both harry and norman being dead, should Roderick Kingsley be introduced as their replacement? For those of you who don't remember who Kingsley is, here is refresher:

I'm gonna have to say no.

For now.

We just had a major Goblin arc. Now maybe next year they wanted to do a "Return of the Goblin" arc....then I'd have no problem. Especially if they made it about Kingsley and not another Osborne-centric story.

For as bad as Clone Saga was, Bendis planted some really good seeds. I'd like to see him flesh out some characters like Chameleon and Scorpion. It's good to introduce newer characters, so long as we get a fair balance of old characters being reintroduced in newer stories.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking, these are discussion boards, so why not have some more discussion?

Well not right away, Hobgoblin was introduced 15 years after Gobby's death in the 616 universe, so a few years between Osborn's death and Kingsley's intro would be a good thing.

The thing is Roger stern created Kingsley to be Osborn's replacement in the 616 universe, which he was until he was sidelined by bad writing and Norman's return. Its only fitting he fill that role here.

Besides the Osborns, Kingsley was the only goblin worth a damn. You can build him up through sub-plots before he gets super powers: Kingsley as a corporate raider who has taken over what's left of Oscorp and is trying to take over the bugle, etc.

Also unlike the Norman, Kingsley would be sane, he would use his goblin powers just to drive the competition out of business with industrial sabotage and he wouldn't have any particular grudge against Spidey. So Spidey would get emotional over another Goblin villain appearing and Kinglsey would be a cool customer in comparison.

You think the Chameleon seeds have already been planted? im really confused, where are you getting this?

Poor choice of words on my behalf.

I guess a better choice of words would be "He brought forth some possibly interesting ideas for some characters."

ok, i was rifling through the clone saga searching for clues, ohh well...back to actually pay attention in class

I'm not sure what you can do with scorpion at this point, he is a total throwaway character, he is a Kaine knock off, instead of being his own individual. He seems pretty wasted to me. Scorpion is not supposed to be Spider-man's version of bizzaro.

Also where in the clone saga was Chameleon mentioned?

I think Bendis pretty much felt that the Scorpion hasn't had much coherent characterisation over the years, and he could pretty much take the basic design and do whatever he pleased with it. So he did. And sure enough, no-one seemed to care.

I suppose he could have made that clone "The Tarantula" or something, but I think I prefer it the way he did it.

So, just because scorpion wasn't the greatest character in the 616 doesn't mean he should be a complete throwaway character in the UU, that's one less arc that uSM can have in the future. Plus 616 scorpion had his moments.

Personally, i dont feel there are any charecters from 616, that with a proper arc, need be labeled as throwaway...anyone can be great if they are well written

The problem is Ultimate scorpion has the exact same origin as Kaine, what makes him different from Kaine?

you know i never thought of it like that, and while he is similar to kaine, he is indeed like spidey's bizzaro, abilities-wise.

which is a neat spin to the character, as they are both arachnids (if i remember my taxonomy correctly).
