Does anyone else read these one-shots? I got the digest that collects the first few digests together. And I absolutely love it all. I've always loved the art style used for this and the short stories are funny and entertaining to read.

The digest is only $7.99, so if you're interested in these kinds of tales, I highly suggest it.

Read them all. Bought them for cheap in bargain bins because I'm a sucker for discounted Fantastic Four stuff.

I didn't really care much for them, but I can't really explain why.

Wait , wont be long before Fantastic Four rise of the silver surfer will be in bargain bins everywhere due it's suckyness :p

I just finished the stories right now. The digest is also grouped with "The Masked Marvel" back-up stories that ran through some comics a couple months back.

I tried.....I really tried to like this, but it really felt derivative of Calvin & Hobbes. Maybe it was the art.

I think Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius isn't very good.

But I don't think that it's a Calvin & Hobbes rip off.

Although I can see why you'd say that.

I tried to read it and couldn't get into it, but I think my son would like the digest so I'll probably pick it up for him.

Yeah I know.

I just thought it was worth pointing out, simply because I've read way too many comments online in which people automatically called it a Calvin & Hobbes rip off because they didn't regard it very highly, as if somehow one follows the other.

Call a spade a spade. You may not like the comic --- I know I don't --- but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's a Calvin & Hobbes rip off by deafult.

I agree with ourchair...the only thing that makes it seem like Calvin & Hobbes is the way Franklin is drawn. The style is the same.

I picked this up about a week ago for my son and he absolutely loves it. I read him a story from it each night and he checks in several times during the day to make sure we will read one before he goes to bed.

It is a LOT like Calvin & Hobbes, with HERBIE playing the part of Hobbes. But it is a well-done homage; it doesn't feel like a rip off at all. My son thinks it's hilarious - it is pretty funny and appeals to the kind of humor that age enjoys.

I ordered the second digest as well...he's excited.

It's a great idea to use Franklin Richards in this way. Great marketing and well done. I'll definitely keep buying them.
