I picked this up because I enjoyed the original NYX series (especially the art). This is written by Marjorie Liu, whom I've never heard of and I think it's her first comic project.

It picks right up after the rushed and semi-aborted ending of NYX with Kiden, Tatiana, and Bobby Soul all living in an apartment and getting guidance of sorts by Cameron whats-her-name.

What I'm not clear on his how these guys survived House of M...? Was that ever established?

I might pick this up, I really enjoyed the first one.

Didn't Josh Middleton do the art for the first one?

For the first 4 or 5 issues. He had to drop out because of the delays - I believe he went on to something with a more stable release schedule.

The art in this one is definitely not as good as Middleton's, and it's pretty uneven overall.

How's the writing? You said that you believe this is the author's first pro work?

So, I just read the first NYX series recently.

Quesada's interpretation of "urban" speech is ridiculous.

Not horrible, but nothing special. This was just the setup issue, We'll see how she handles the actual story.

I liked the first NYX, that is until Josh Middleton left....the replacement artist just seemed like he was trying to mimic Middleton's art style. Either that, or they just chose him because his style looked like Middleton's.

I finally finished this - it was that uninteresting that I never bothered to read past the first issue or two. I don't even remember how far along I was, so I just started back at the beginning.

I seriously don't know what I just read. There was no point, no explanation as to who the black haired woman doing the experiments on them was or why she was doing them, no explanation as to why Kiden's dad was involved, and no explanation who he was working for/with.

This might have been the worst thing I've ever read. It made zero sense.

Worse than that, though, is that the characters were terrible. They were so one-dimensional and weak; nothing like how they were written in the first series (which I loved at first and showed a lot of potential but ultimately was a huge letdown).

ETA: Is there not a NYX (original series) thread? I just went through the X-Men and Gen. Marvel forums and couldn't find one.

I love Marjorie Liu's writing, but No Way Home, was by far some of her weakest work.

And no, there was no other NYX thread.

if there was, it was so loooonnnnngggggg ago that it just disappeared.

good to know, i'll avoid this so as not to ruin my original NYX
