Terminator Salvation

Conner was a rebellious smartass teenager in 2.

After the events of 3 and all the **** he has to do now. I think I would lose my sense of humor also.

Shhhh... Harry Knowles will keeel you for thinking for yourself!

Yeah.... I mean, except, well, T2 was the second greatest mindless action movie ever made (the best, if you don't count Die Hard as being mindless; and I don't). But you're right. The humor in T2 really made me grimace. For that matter, Edward Furlong made me grimace. But it's one of those things you can accept because it's one of those pivotal movies for kids who were growing up in the nineties.

At least they went a new direction with the series. T3 was kind of a waste.

Not totally though. I mean T-X was cool.... and Hot.

I think the problem comes from repeating the formula. The reason T2 was great in comparison to Terminator, and Aliens was great in comparison to Alien, is that they flipped the script. T3 fell into the same hole that Alien 3 (and practically every other sequel) did. It was the same movie with a different cast. Even the action sequences felt like an attempt to remake the T2 sequences with newer effects.

Although, I'll admit. The chase with the fleet of cop cars was pretty wicked.

So totally agree on all counts.

Word.

I think the problem is, Terminator doesn't really lend itself to more sequels. T2's whole theme was that the future can be changed. T3's theme was "Whoops! Never mind! You're screwed John!"

I'm not saying the new movie won't be good. I just wonder if it wouldn't have worked just as well without being a part of the franchise, or being a soft reboot rather than a sequel.

That said, the reason this has potential where T3 didn't is.... this is exactly what Terminator fans have always wanted to see. I don't think there was a kid out there who saw the flash forwards to the robot apocalypse and wasn't desperate to see a whole movie made up of that stuff.

I think I will love it as I never really cared for the first 3. They were all average.

Yeah, T1 idea was the future is inevitable, T2 said it wasn't, T3 could have only worked if it was set on Judgment day (which I recall was originally 1997) and not retardedly "delayed". The ONLY other place to take the franchise is in the future, which is the only thing that really has me excited for this.

.

For that matter, i wonder if Skynet will have a more active role in the new series. I mean Skynet is basically the main antagonist of the antagonist of the franchise it doesn't do much beside having a phobia for humans, nuking the world because of it and killing what is left with killer robots.

Saw the midnight showing. I won't give any spoilers or get into plot points until it's been out for a while, but here's a one word review for anyone interested.

Meh.

I saw the movie and it was good, just a fun popcorn flick not much else. The story wasn't inspiring and there were a few leaps in logical storytelling. But over all it was good.

Also I ****ing loved the special and practical effects. This is how you use modern technology Hollywood. I loved the part in the beginning when John started flying the helicopter, a long scene all in one cut. Very cool. Effects on the Terminators were perfect. The movie may be lacking in a lot of areas but damn the look and feel was incredible.

$13.3million opening night. Not a bad debut.

Finally a Terminator movie that I really really liked.

It was what I expect to see in a war between humans and machines.

I think the other ones were great setup now.

I don't, so I am going to proceed to kill him.

With a needle.

In the eye.
