The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies. EVAR.

Just recently they released a 70th anniversary edition. It's pretty easy to dismiss it as another re-release to milk money out of the movie-buying public, but this is different. The movie is restored form the original negatives and looks PHENOMENAL. Especially in HD.

The colors and so deep and vibrant - visually it's stunning. I've never seen anything like it. The audio has been restored but I don't have the equipment to take advantage of it.

Definitely recommended. It's amazing.

Re: The Wizard of Oz discussion thread

I had a crush on a girl i worked with in 1998 and this was her favorite movie, so I bought two tickets to the relrelease that her and invited her with, but she said no so I gave the tickets to two younger girls at work and went home lonely and depressed.

**** this movie.

That's a very Joe Kalicki response.

Did you guys know that one of the dwarves who played a munchkin got murdered by a tree?????????

If you pause the video during the scene when they're walking through the forest, you can see one of the trees stab a dwarf forty-seven times in the background.

It's true! If you pause the movie and look real close, you can see he's wearing a steel reinforced butt plug.

It was there to keep the robot gerbil from escaping.

Re: The Wizard of Oz discussion thread

One of the extra audio tracks should be The Dark Side of the Moon.

Re: The Wizard of Oz discussion thread

I'd post a picture of the Gay Train but I think I'd get banned. Suffice it to say...it's pretty great.

It would be awesome if they would actually embrace it like that.
