I know he fought in world war two with nick fury and cap. I also found explanations why cap and fury haven't aged much in seventy years. I can't understand why Dum Dum isn't in his 80's and if he is why does he look like he did in the 40's ? I f anyone knows please tell me .

This is the most interesting part of Dum Dum Dugan's Wikipedia page:

"Dum Dum Dugan is placed in charge of a SHIELD Unit coined The Godzilla Squad, charged with the task of tracking and stopping the radioactive kaiju. Over the twenty-four issue series, Dugan goes from loathing the creature's destructive tendencies to accepting the beast's existence after Godzilla saves him on numerous occasions. Dugan later recalls a long list of his greatest nightmares, one of which includes Godzilla."

yeah the don't even mention why he hasn't aged on the Marvel wiki. Weird.

Apparently he was a circus strong man back in the late 1930s. So being generous and assuming he was 18 in 1939, he would be 90 in 2011. Also apparently he had a heart attack a few years ago and retired to be with his wife and grand kids until his wife was murdered.

Marvel's not ignoring the fact that he's old, there's just no explanation as to why he's not in his 90s...

This question is answered in the new Captain America #2.

Basically Dugan and his team were trapped in a dimension for decades and didn't age. This is similar to JSA.

Wait, so...Marvel has a policy that stretches the age limits for characters, right? So I'm assuming that everything that was published in the '40s actually happened in the '40s, and then in '60s realtime when Cap was unthawed and the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men were formed, and Spider-Man debuted, that's around the beginning of the modern era. So there's a huge gap between the '40s and the modern era ('00s) where Cap was frozen and the Avengers, FF, X-Men, and Spider-Man had yet to exist. Presumably, Nick Fury was kicking ass as a spy/becoming director of SHIELD during this gap. Black Widow was raised by the USSR's Black Widow program and trained in the Red Room facility before becoming a spy. But what else happened during this time then? That would make Magneto in his 80s or 90s because his origin must take place during the Holocaust because that has yet to be retconned. I guess they could make some excuse like mutants live longer than humans (I know Gambit actually does have an extended lifespan as seen in one of the alternate futures where he became The Witness). I know the Vietnam stuff with Iron Man's original origin has been retconned and I figure that the Soviet stuff with Hulk's origin (Abomination, Gargoyle) is also retconned. But there are still a lot of details that don't mesh with this policy. Amazing Fantasy #15 couldn't have taken place in the Sixties anymore, and Marvel has to keep shifting their timeline.

I think now it's that everything started around the 80's, as for Magneto, he was turned into a baby once then re-aged into a younger man. In the 50's you had the Agents of Atlas running around, but the 60's and 70's are a blank slate I guess.

There is a story in the current New Avengers (maybe it finished) about Fury's team of Avengers (or whatever they called themselves) from the 50s or somewhere in that time era. It included Sabretooth.
