What Ultimate characters do you think need more development as characters? I think there are a lot of under developed Spidey villains in the UU, it be nice to see say Sandman in a story where he does something a bit more interesting then just being a minion in the Sinister Six.

Most of the X-Men, but they were only used for cannon fodder. I mean, the only mutants who got any kind of character growth were Cyclops, Charles, Erik, Kitty and Wolverine. Everyone else were treated as an unending body count.

The spider-clones.

All of them to varying degrees, but especially Jessica Drew (They did actually use her name, right?).

This. They actually had an interesting Clone Saga idea and did absolutely **** all with it.

The whole line, but especially USM, was filled with fascinating ideas that were never really explored. But the clone saga was one of the more egregious ones. Jessica Drew's situation in particular was actually a pretty horrifying premise when you thought about it, but Bendis really didn't have the chops to explore that. I mean, forced transexuality? Instead we got another quintessentially Bendis GWAAAAARGGGGHHHH!!!! deus ex.

(Actually, some of the core ideas that could have been explored by the implications of the clone saga are interesting enough that someone should explore them in a story somewhere, even if it's not USM)

Even before that there was a period of time where they were just puking up Ultimate versions of characters with nothing special done with them. It was mostly Bendis but it seemed like Kirkman did it too. Vaughan did very well with his Ultimizations.

I wasn't a huge fan of Mark Millar's UXM run but at least the characters were more noteworthy.

Does wanting a new Ultimate Iron Man origin count? I hated the Orson Scott Card Ultimate Iron Man books. I'd love for someone to start over with that.

I can't remember off hand, who was the one that introduced Betsy Braddock and killed her in like the same issue?

Millar actually wrote that off as being a TV show in the Ultimates Universe and Tony's origin is much more poignant and believable. (Read: He's not blue)

I completely missed and/or forgot that. Good to know. I'll have to go back and re-read that.

This is an example a good ret con. I wouldn't mind some minor retcons here and there to get rid of some the sillier story elements and giving some characters more development. Ulimate Shocker's back story in his last appearance was a bit of retcon, it might be nice to see him again and develop his character further, based on the events of his last appearance.

Lana Baumgartner, it seems like Bendis was going somewhere with this character and then Parker died and poof she's gone. I'd like to have found out what she thought when Peter died and where she was going to go from there. Maybe have her power upgrade to no longer need her mother by her side to use them. Maybe even have her join the X-Men or the Runaways.

This is only tangentially related to the thread, but remember when Ultimate Avengers was first announced and we were all excited and Millar said he was going to introduce the Red Skull and Kang and we all assumed Gregory Stark was going to be Kang because he just appeared out of nowhere and had all this technology from the future but presumably because Bendis was using Kang in Avengers, Millar decided he couldn't use him because it would be that whole "vampires in X-Men" thing all over again.

Ultimate Avengers was such a waste.

Has Geldoff been mentioned yet? Or that T Rex that Ben punched? I bet he was suppose to become Devil Dinosaur.

That would be amazing.

Vanessa Fisk. Personally, I would like her coma sickness to be Doc Strange related. Seriously, we never found out why Strange wanted to takedown Kingpin, he just seemed like the most random guy to be on the Knights team. What if Strange and Vanessa were together then Kingpin wooed her away making Strange jealous and placing a spell on Vanessa that put her in the coma as revenge. Strange didn't want Kingpin dead in the Knights arc. He just would have wanted him to suffer more.

Plus with Strange dead the spell could be gone now and Kingpin is dead so mYbe she could come.back in some sort of villainous way.
