Footage from the DC Dawn of the Justice League special:

The trailer looks perfectly fine, I just don't care anything about the DC movies. Or shows.

This would probably be the one to make me change my mind on that, though.

It's already been said that WB is hiding a bad movie behind great trailers by a former employee. I still haven't even seen Suicide Squad.

I enjoy Arrow & Flash. They're sort of brainless fun.

I agree about the movies. I didn't like Man of Steel, and nothing about BvS or Suicide Squad made me want to go see them. But Wonder Woman looks completely different. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Just remember you said much the same about Rogue One. "Worst case scenario" isn't the only option. :)

And I'm still weary of Rogue One, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt since The Force Awakens was only strike one.

Not made by Disney. Also, I LOVE Revenge of the Sith

Revenge of the Sith is a good movie marred by TERRIBLE line delivery, mostly by Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen.

I'm also not a fan of choreographed lightsaber fighting.

The lightsaber fights are what do it for me, that final fight is full of so much emotion. That's a discussion for another thread though...

It was pretty good. Maybe a little better than Captain America:TFA or Thor (and very much like they mixed those two movies together.) But not aimed at a family friendly audience like they were.

I'm going to openly admit, I just don't care enough. This universe had it's chance, there is no turn around. You can't take back the last three films. Jenkins directing is flat and boring. The action scenes greatly suffer the most and slowdowns are plentiful. Confused by praise she's getting. Pine is easily the best part of the film and any scenes he has with Gadot are her best scenes. She's not still not very good, but better than she was in BvS. The bad guy is entirely forgettable, the twist isn't shocking, and the ending is another CGI action mess on a barren wasteland. It completely falls apart at the end too. Like, completely shatters any message the film has. I started laughing out loud. Overall it's just a mediocre film, which is more than I can say about the other DCEU films. It's horrendously overrated which is alarming. Imagine if the film DESERVED the praise it's getting, imagine if it was actually great. Imagine the message that would have sent to Hollywood. Instead Hollywood's message is "if you put out a mediocre film about a female superhero the masses will gobble it without question". This SHOULD have been a great film. A better lead, a better director, a rewrite or two, and better film would have resulted. This is Marvel level quality That's not a compliment. It means it's safe, by the numbers, and could have been better. It's the best DCEU film yet.

Man of Steel - 5/10
Batman v Superman Extended Edition - 4/10
Suicide Squad Extended Edition - 3/10
Wonder Woman - 6/10

Spoilers.

I didn't like this movie at all. I thought it was boring and I felt nothing. I take that back. Chris pine dying was the only part that gave me emotions.

I really wanted to like it. I thought Gal Gadot only brought the look of wonder woman to the film. I felt as if I was watching an eps of law and order and I knew who the bad guy waa a soon as they appeared on the screen.

Where man of steel disappointed me and bvs made me hate the idea of superman and Batman ever being in a film together. Then suicide squad made me wonder if dc could maybe have an idea of movie making. Wonder Woman bored me nearly to death.

I wanted passion, heart and a sense of excitement that none of the DCEU movies have delivered. What I received was a lesson of how humans/men are cruel but not really.

I did not like this film at all.

I thought the action (besides the big finale fight) was pretty cool. I didn't think the directing was boring either, what in particular would you say fell flat?

Misogynist. ;)

No, but seriously, I thought she was quite compelling and charismatic. What didn't you like?

Yes, yes, YES!

If you're talking about how
mankind isn't simply corrupted by Ares, and yet after he dies, they all hug
, then yeah. That was TERRRRRRIBLE.

Fair enough, I think I enjoyed it a little more than you did, maybe 7.5/10. But then I don't really care about Wonder Woman as a character, or really DC much at all. But yeah, it was an adequate movie, not a great one. It's getting praise because society is in the right place to celebrate women and because it's FAR superior to the previous three DCEU movies, as you said.

Huh, you don't think Gal Gadot captured Wonder Woman? Are you a Wonder Woman fan? I'm only really familiar with her through the old Bruce Timm Justice League Cartoons, and I thought she did a good enough job portraying her. But I probably just don't understand the character. (Also, she was playing a young, naive Wonder Woman, so probably not the Wonder Woman many people were expecting.

As I said above, I didn't love the movie, but I was hardly bored watching it.

I actually love the Trinity. They are all amazing and I'vebeen reading their comics for years but it's not about liking the character from the comic you the film. It's about the film to me. I didn't care for her. She was beautiful and strong but she was boring and had no real purpose. I think Gadot was stale and off with her acting. I think the lines felt unattached and anyone could of played this role,, Gadot just look the part.

The best part of the film was being on the island and Trevor.

Congratulations, you missed two of the worst superhero films ever made.

Just the way shots were set up. I know this sounds like nitpicking, but a good director makes all the difference.

These are basically the same shot, main character with a shield jumping through the window. Which draws your eye more though?

For me it's Captain America because it makes me feel like I'm on the ground looking up as he breaks through the window. Even though Wonder Woman has more things going on, I'm less drawn into the action because I'm seeing it as if I were on a roof next to it happening. The Winter Soldier draws me into the action more by giving me a more realistic and stylish vantage point.

I'm seeing a lot of praise for Gal Gadot and I don't get it. She was just as bad as she was in BvS and had the same dopy mouth agape expression through the whole film as she did in that one. Only she had more to work with here and the script called for a dopy mouth agape expression through most of the film. Her acting during the final fight with Ares was especially bad.

I'll reply to this rest when I get off work. Wasn't paying attention to the time. I have a lot to say.

That and the fact that she gives a big speech about winning with the power of love only to proceed to beat a man to death. Honestly, if you took that whole fight with Ares out the film would be instantly ten times better. Diana has to be wrong for the film to have any impact, but instead she keeps insisting that it's Ares that is controlling everything and refuses to believe that sometimes people are just evil. By making it so that when Ares is beat that the win just ends it puts no responsibility on the humans and Diana doesn't learn anything. They wanted it so that mankind is sometimes evil, but we ended up with Ares being behind the whole thing.

What I would have done was had the general die, the war continue, the audience learns that Ares is around, and then the war ends so that everyone, including Diana, knows that sometimes people are evil and that, while Ares was involved, he wasn't necessarily pulling the strings. Have his whole "planting seeds" thing revealed to the audience so we know what his involvement was. I think that would have given the film more of an impact and Diana more growth. She would learn that she can't fix everything by killing and that her whole message about love would have had more context. At least until The Treaty of Versailles screws everything up

I still don't think that's enough for it to be receiving the reception it's getting. People were acting like this was not only the first female superhero film, but people were CRYING because of it. I don't get what there is to cry about, maybe when Steve Trevor dies, but outside of that? It's overblown and the fact that the movie isn't this A+++ film concerns me about the future of female superhero films. Is Marvel going to just putt out an average Captain Marvel now because they know people will see it regardless? I'm already seeing that Black Panther is going to get the same treatment.

There's always enough right in these DC films to tick me off. With Man of Steel the first flight scene, minus him destroying a mountain, was perfect. Ben Affleck is an amazing Batman, minus the stupidity and the killing, and is easily the best we've gotten outside of Gotham. In the action scenes in Wonder Woman she moved like Wonder Woman, it was great outside the poor directing.
