Marvel Cinematic Universe - Timeline (Part 2)

Hey so I haven't really been paying much attention, and kinda trying to avoid spoilers anyway. Just saw Ant-Man 3 today and I actually just heard that MODOK was changed. I've never heard of him before (didn't watch the Hulu show or any others with the character and I don't read comics). To me, he looks like HE (instead of the other guy) could be called kRang (as in TMNT- he reminds me of that dude). LOL. Anyway, was this basically an "ugly Sonic" situation, where fans compained and they started over? I tried to find the original MCU design, but it's hard (for me) to find. Which one of these was the original MCU design? Is it in a trailer I can see?

The left one is MODOK in the Avengers game, the right is an artist rendition of MODOK based on an early look at his masked design
 
IIRC Jon Bernthal said a while back if they didn't keep the brutality and violent nature of the character the same, he wouldn't reprise the role under any other circumstance.

I guess this will truly be TV-MA.

Brutally Violent and MA don't always go hand in hand, TV-14 can go to surprising lengths when it comes to violence and profanity, that's kinda a comment section misconception you see often. The violence in the MCU isn't a MPAA issue it's mostly a Disney issue, I mean look at MoM and the Illuminati and WbN that was a better show of higher levels of violence but it's hardly the limit of when something becomes R/MA. Punisher can very much so be done justice and still be in a PG-14 setting. If anything I think this shows the series will at least push farther than the average MCU project but I don't think it necessarily means it'll be MA

I'm aware. Gotham (the show) is a prime example of that.

I think they could handle more of a PG-16 rating, since Marvel Zombies and Deadpool 3 are going to be R-rated/TV-MA, why would they keep Daredevil outside of that? We've had a bit of blood in TF&TWS, MoM and Werewolf by Night, we've had serious themes in Moon Knight, since Daredevil had a TV-MA rating and they actually kept an eye on the Defenders shows but they're not 'crossing the line' I think that would be an adequate rating for this. Plus, TF&TWS and Moon Knight are already rated +16 in some countries
 
So it looks like the deleted scene with the May 7 date took place in the day where Shuri wakes up in Talokan, I had been assuming it took place when they first arrived in Alexandria.

I'll rewatch and see how to place the timestamps according to the dates.

Edit: Probably temporary placement with same reasoning as former Civil War placements; MCU dates having different weekdays.

According to the script she was awake much longer than that. Essentially, what's happening above and below water aren't concurrent, if we choose to believe the May 7th date and the "Tuesday" line are both accurate indicators of correct dating.

The fact the actress is of a different ethnicity is telling to me. I still feel like the new series is vague on events from the Netflix series anyway. Matt will have had a history with Fisk and Frank, but the specifics of it aren't brought up. As it's been said this is a season 1 and I doubt there's much continuation of the Netflix story. Which given it'll be like 8/9 years in-universe works.
 
Unfortunately I am predicting some visual comparisons being made between an Israeli actress and one of Chinese background; regardless if you think that's reachable or not. I dunno.

I feel like a lot of that would be due to wanting her to believably be the same exact character rather than any actual resemblance.
 
Other actors on the call sheet include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva and Sandrine Holt, the latter of whom is playing Vanessa Fisk, the wife of Fisk. Michael Gaston (Chicago P.D., Mayor of Kingstown) is also in the series.

Remember they married in Season 3.

Honestly even if they hadn't I think we'd see her as Vanessa Fisk anyways. It's been so many years since the last season and Vanessa Fisk is the more well known comic name (I don't think we've really ever seen her not married to him in the comics).

I am interested tho in the fact that this is not only the first recast we've seen in like over 10 years and the first race change to happen. Every time they do something to directly connect to the old Netflix series, like Fisk's cufflinks which originate from the series not the comics, they do something to stir up the canon debate

I never saw the cufflinks as some 100% confirmation. To me, it's no different than them bringing back Cox, D'Onofrio, or Bernthal.

I mean the only 100% confirmation would come from Marvel. Actors as we've seen with JK Simmons actors reprising roles mean nothing, the Cufflinks tho were specific to the Netflix series and were made a point to be shown with Bishop's badass move. That being said different but similar is kinda the point of the multiverse and with a cast change that different I'm leaning back to them being different branches. Won't stop me from binging the old Netflix shows from time to time before I watch the MCU through lol
