Googling it shows that St. Patrick's Day was on March 17th in 1938, a Thursday... which means that the Saturday in question likely would be the 19th.

The first panel in SMT #10 features a poster for the movie Bringing Up Baby, which was originally released in February 1938.


The first page also has a panel make reference to Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars, though curiously, the serial didn't release until March 21st IRL (whereas the opening pages take place the same night [March 19th] that SMT #9 ended), though much like the reference to The Little Foxes in SMT #4, we could assume that the serial released a few days earlier in the Veritgo universe.

Wait doesn't the Flash point happens in 2012?

Hellblazer has to play out in full before Flashpoint occurs. The timelines merge and the ending of Hellblazer via Vertigo Universe is acknowledged in a later Prime Earth story. It can't be an erased or "potential" future, if you cut it off right around the time/date that Flashpoint was released in real life on the basis of when it took place - then the entire 300-issue run is pointless due to the narrative becoming incomplete.

It helps that Flashpoint, in-universe, has an unclear date. Could easily be the following year, 2012 instead of 2011.

Give or take, ~1264 issues or stories.

That is more than Marvel's Conan stories.
