I would guess, and I have no real idea, that the novels are sequels to the whole trilogy while the comics act as a sequel to The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, set, I guess, before the rest.

Because of the various crossovers the Army of Darkness comics have done over the years, this Earth is also home to the Dynamite versions of Vampirella, Re-Animator, Red Sonja, Xena: Warrior Princess, Sherlock Holmes, Allan Quatermain, Devil's Due's Hack/Slash, and Wildstorm's Freddy Kruger and Jason Voorhees.
