Also, are Psychonauts and Voodoo Vince the same continuity? You can collect a voodoo vince in the original Psychonauts. Some kind of Xbox Platformer shared universe
As much as I like the Descendants movies, the setting has always confused me, like is it even set on Earth? So uhhhhh apparently Descendants is canon to the actual Disney Movies? Like straight up?
"I was informed very early on...by the head of Disney Channel, Gary Marsh, that the reason this project has taken so long was because Disney Corporate had to approve of somebody officially embellishing on the original stories, because that is what we're doing," Dove explained.
"Anything else, like Once Upon a Time, hasn't actually been an official embellishment on the story," she continued, "We. Are. Canon."
I guess like. For this to work a lot of the characters just have to be immortal I guess so they could coexist. Kinda messed up that Anastasia still got sent to the Isle of the Lost even after her redemption arc though (the Disney sequels are canon too because Melody's name appears on one of the maps with a castle of her own next to Ariel's)
Doctor Who, technically. It's a consequence of being a time travel show. I guess the Peter Cushing movies, but they're in-universe fiction. Are there any large multimedia franchises where literally ALL media is considered canonical? Not talking in a multiverse sense but just a single universe with one continuity where all of the media happens. I can't really think of many I think it would be cool to have a list if there's enough like that
I think that conflicts with Rule 96: any sufficiently large multimedia franchise will contain at least one work that's set in an alternate universeAre there any large multimedia franchises where literally ALL media is considered canonical? Personally I like to think of Cushing as the original Unbound DoctorDoctor Who, technically. It's a consequence of being a time travel show. I guess the Peter Cushing movies, but they're in-universe fiction.
The films don't really have enough continuity for them to contradict. The only issue is an out-of-universe art book describing a different origin for the Lament Configuration, and even then, it's probably explainable. Just because Kirsty doesn't mention her husband who she damned to Leviathan's Realm for infidelity doesn't mean it didn't happen.Has anyone read Marvel's Hellraiser comics? Do they take place in their own timeline, where only the first few films are canon, or do they fit into the continuity of the entire film series? I don't remember the movies well enough to draw conclusions from reading the comics.
Iirc a friend of Clive Barker stated that Clive sees each medium as a separate continuity, so films are one, the novels are another, and the comics are a 3rd. Although he also said the first 2 films are canon to the comic universeHas anyone read Marvel's Hellraiser comics? I've heard that too, but the comics just seem like normal movie tie-ins. Also, the comics connect to the third film too, so if that's what they said, it's contradicted by the stories themselves. It just seems weird because the movies and comics are connected and don't contradict while the novels are completely different and clearly separate.Iirc a friend of Clive Barker stated that Clive sees each medium as a separate continuity, so films are one, the novels are another, and the comics are a 3rd. Well Clive Barker himself seems to imply the Novels are canon to the films too. He literally said he was writing the Doug Bradley version of Pinhead in The Scarlet GospelsI've heard that too, but the comics just seem like normal movie tie-ins. I'd rather hear from Clive Barker that his official sequel to the films aren't canon to the films than from a friend of his, too.
Ive seen the Toll (the novel set between the original and Scarlet gospels) has different synopsis that use both the last names of Kirsty, both the novel last name and film version last name. I haven't read it so idk if it's explained at allWow, that's funny. I feel like that'd be pretty problematic.
I do believe Pinhead died in that book, though I suppose there's more than one anyway.Well Clive Barker himself seems to imply the Novels are canon to the films too. He literally said he was writing the Doug Bradley version of Pinhead in The Scarlet Gospels
Okay, I believe Sofia the First establishes that either pretty much every Disney princess has their own universe (it might be from different points in time, I don't remember) but some amulet can summon them to her universe/time, so ig you could explain it like that?So uhhhhh apparently Descendants is canon to the actual Disney Movies? Most are from the same world as Sofia, the only ones that aren't come from Earth which is more like real world Earth (but obviously still has magic) like Tiana.Okay, I believe Sofia the First establishes that either pretty much every Disney princess has their own universe (it might be from different points in time, I don't remember) but some amulet can summon them to her universe/time, so ig you could explain it like that?
That's not even getting into the other Disney connectionsOn a different note, I recently remembered the existence of My Muppet Show and the implications it has on both My Singing Monsters lore and Muppets lore. Big Blue Bubble, the MSM and MMS devs, have stated that every one of their games is a separate universe on the Stablo Myehurića (idk, their multiverse I believe), which includes the human world. BBB are essentially exploring these different universes, but most prominently the Monster World (and its connected universes/dimensions). While it is explicitly stated numerous times that the MSM games are representations of the Monster World, it has never been stated for all other games they've made. So to make a Muppets timeline, that would include My Muppet Show, which would be set in the same world as the human world. There are countless cinematic trailers for MSM as well as non-trailer scripted videos/posts, making the already-complicated Muppets timeline all the more chaotic
Oh, I talked about the plethora of connections a while back in this thread. Lemme see if I can find it, just know that it contains friggin The Office and Big Bang TheoryThat's not even getting into the other Disney connections
