The movie isn't part of the Kong of Skull Island franchise, only the 2005 rewrite of the novelization of the movie. The comic presumably used the image of the movie version because it was simpler. Kong probably just looks the same in the novelization reality

This is kinda why I don't think the reboots completely contradict the original two movies timeline that much. There's backstory errors but you could easily chalk it up to being lost in time history. The Icarus in Rise of the Planet of the Apes could easily be a different spaceship, avoiding the issue with misaligned timelines. I'm not entirely sure it's intentional obviously, but it's fun to speculate.

It'd still be better in a post-Battle timeline but... meh. It's fine I guess... perhaps orbiting in space somehow brought them into the near future and the live message the main character received was in the past Earth-time but only reached the spaceship after many years. See, you can make it work!

- The 2503 New York picture was actually a French proposal in 1966. Maybe the 2503 part of the book was doctored and they used this image.

The TV show btw had special wraparound segments in TV movie versions of episodes that have never been rereleased, you can find them on YouTube they're set years later and also explained how the astronauts got back home

The Highlander comics are sequel/prequels to the first film that consider Highlander III and The Series as canon. In fact, #10-12 are a sequel to Endgame.

Only the second film and the animated series have continuity issues. Maybe the animated series is a distant sequel to the second film? Although I like the idea that the second film is a dream of some sort Connor had in 1991.

I don't like saying things are dreams unless that's backed up officially. Dream theories in general are literally impossible to disprove because you can just back anything up with "it was just a dream!" The only reason I said 5 was a dream was because I thought it was backed up officially
