So I'm actually cool with Blue Beetle being the first DCU movie. Here are my notes on the film, I think it'll fit nicely honestly.
- A reporter can be heard in the background talking about Bruce Wayne and his recent acquisition of a popular app. "And in other news, Gotham City millionaire tycoon Bruce Wayne just bought social media platform Twitter for a whopping $70 billion dollars."
- The following references to other heroes are made in the film: "Like Superman in Metropolis or The Flash in Central City". "You can't fly. Superman can fly." "Like, look at this. It's like Batman's stuff, but…like if he had ADHD or something." and "Batman's a fascist."
^Personally I'm hoping The Batman and The Batman: Part II will be integrated as well. But now we know The Flash is already established in this universe.
- A "LEXCORP" building can be briefly seen next to the Kord tower.

I know it won't happen, but I never had a problem with that idea. The whole point is that Batman and Superman are different from one another. Batman being grounded is fine! It's normal for Batman to go from easily dispatching aliens and Gods to struggling with regular criminals. That's what makes him Batman. The contrast! You can easily make very grounded Batman films and keep it that way in a standalone "universe" set within the greater world.
We can handle a new interpretation of Batman for sure, if it happens we'll all forget about any problems or overlap, but it'd certainly be a lot quicker for world building to just use the version that everyone likes already. Again, I have no issue with a new Batman at all... but I think this universe would be more successful if they did go in a different direction. This universe kinda needs it after the extremely expensive and tragic failure of Supergirl.
I don't know, just my thoughts on that.

Maybe he got Lex Luthor elected.
I am jokingly referencing Superman : The Movie but I really wish Gunn would go with that. That predates both of those other names for Lex's business. He already used Otis and Eve Teschmacher. Plus it makes more since than the redundant full legal name of "Lexcorp Incorporated".

I like that idea actually as the full name for his company: it's named as LuthorCorp in the North and LexCorp in the South.Lexcorp or Luthorcorp both are really just shortened versions of the true full name "Lex Luthor Incorporated"!
Why would his company have different names in different areas?

Xolo just posted about Blue Beetle on Instragram. It's all old photos from his movie and standing in front of huge billboard in Times Square. No direct confirmation but he says this might be a good time to rewatch it or words to that effect. I do not follow this type of stuff that closely anymore. But I know Comic Con is next weekend.
