December 2012 is very close to the events of Dark of the Moon and 3 years after 2009, when Revenge of the Fallen happened... but including the tie-in media, they have to happen in at least 2010, meaning that 3 years since the last Decepticon sighting would be 2013, and since the game takes place...

That, or we just disregard the narration in that game completely.

In fairness, it's possible that the Dark of the Moon game is set in 2013 and it's three years after the Decepticons were last seen in the comics.
