Another reason for this, an older Harrigan appears in a Predator short story. You'd have to account for his age too. I don't think there's any contradictions to them both being taken shortly after Predator 2 between chapters of Stalking Shadows. They don't have to reference everything that happens to them.

It just means that they escaped back to Earth around 1998-2000 off-screen (until another movie comes out).

Nothing in Prometheus contradicts the Predator movies. Peter Weyland formed Weyland Corp in 2012 and Charles Bishop Weyland formed Weyland Industries prior to 2004. That's it.
