Alien vs. Predator - Timeline

It has no connection to the Yautja. I think there's a proven false narrative that David 8 created the Xenomorphs too, but we know that's not the case.
right, we only technically see a "protomorph" in covenant that david created; we know the xenomorph must predate this in some form because of the mural on the wall in prometheus

For whatever reason, I had it in my head that the Predator timeline was all the predator movies, the AVP movies, and the Alien movies (minus Prometheus and its sequel), and that the Alien timeline was just the Alien movies

Yeah, that'd be because of presumed contradictions between the Weyland Corp origins and the Xenomorph species (both of which don't really exist), but let's be real, there's no way Alien: Romulus, which is connected to those prequels, is a separate universe to Predator: Badlands, which is connected to Alien. They've even said the next AVP film could include characters from both Alien and Predator films akin to a proper cinematic universe.

I mean, now people are saying that Alien: Earth contradicts the last three Alien films because it doesn't subscribe to the Xenomorphs being a creation of David nor follows the technology of the prequels, neither of which contradict anything, so it's just something you gotta live with. Either way, all 15 films are definitely the same universe.

not to mention the scrapped ending of the predator 2018 which would have had ripley from the future in the pod

Hm, that would have been weird. I'd probably treat it as an alternate Ripley (perhaps from the alt. Aliens sequel) that creates the Alien³/Resurrection timeline through her presence in the past. That would have hurt the canon a bit, ironically.

Another reason for this, an older Harrigan appears in a Predator short story. You'd have to account for his age too. I don't think there's any contradictions to them both being taken shortly after Predator 2 between chapters of Stalking Shadows. They don't have to reference everything that happens to them.

It just means that they escaped back to Earth around 1998-2000 off-screen (until another movie comes out).
Oh, another aspect that doesn't really mean much, but the first four chronological films (Prey, Predator, Predator 2, Predator: Killer of Killers) are made into a connected storyline and all before the first AVP movie.

Kinda funny that the chronological order of the Predator films is:
1719 - Predator 5
1987 - Predator 1
1997 - Predator 2
1998 - Predator 6
2018 - Predator 4
2024 - Predator 3
21?? - Predator 7

Another aspect of them being connected is the fact that almost every Predator film is connected to Alien.

Predator
Predator 2 (Xenomorph body part)
Predators (Xenomorph body part)
The Predator (Xenomorph body part)
Prey
Predator: Killer of Killers (Xenomorph body part)
Predator: Badlands (Weyland-Yutani)

Probably the millions of AVP non-canoners online. :p
I feel so much like you with this quote, I fight each day against the Arkhamverse and Buffyverse non-canoners...

To let you know how worse it is, the Buffyverse fans says that ignoring the comics makes them non-canon (?).

Arkhamverse non-canoners literally try and argue that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn't canon because they don't like it. I know it's a bad game, but there's literally no reason to be upset at it anymore. The story worked itself out and it's fine, everyone is fine. Even Robin is probably secretly fine. Lex Luthor is dead, sure, but who cares about Arkhamverse Lex Luthor anyway? He's only appeared in a voice message prior to this game.

I feel probably the worst franchise for it is Star Wars. Yeah, the sequels were terrible, but they're still canon

You see someone asking if Terminator 3 is canon online to a Terminator community, and they'll all say no despite the fact that all films were confirmed canon to Terminator Zero. It just happens.

All that did was remind me I need to watch the Terminator movies
