Alien vs. Predator - Timeline

Just imagine if Independence Day was properly canonized. Legally, they can do it... practically... uh, well, let's be glad they haven't. Harvesters are canon though.
I think the only change that would make would literally be moving Predator: Dark River back a year into 1995 because it's set in New York. Every other massive continuity issue (LA...) I'd just have to cry about. The 3 billion lives lost in the 1996 attack actually wouldn't be too problematic when you consider we don't know the population of this universe before or after 1996, as far as I know.

I haven't seen the second film in years but I imagine that creates even bigger problems. :D

Predator 2 or Independence Day: Resurgence?

A majority of Asia, Europe, the Middle East, parts of Africa and the North American eastern seaboard were heavily devastated by the invasion. Cities such as London, Paris, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Washington and Singapore most especially suffered from either being lifted by the Harvester mothership's gravitational pull or severely damaged by the massive ship's landing or from the fallen levitated debris.

Despite the major losses, humanity's tenacity was enough to convince the Sphere to bestow its advanced technology - such as faster-than-light travel - to humanity and offering them to join in its resistance to lead a counterattack against the Harvesters.

welll if we take this and blade runner as canon we have a pro and a counter.

Pro: It makes sense for the change in tecnology for BR Los Angeles.
Counter: the world is dead.

I mean, I don't think any of those specific locations have appeared in 2016-2025 content. A decade allows rebuilding to occur, plus the technology advantage. You probably could fit Independence Day in, it's just that it means there's some huge events in Earth's history that have never been mentioned before.

The Blip never gets mentioned in the later seasons of AOS, even though people as important as Nick Fury were blipped. I don't see why events not being mentioned would be too big of a problem (though these are pretty big events…)

Biggest issue is LA gets destroyed in 1996 (ID) but appears in 1997 (Predator 2). Rebuilding finished before or around 2010 in Independence Day lore apparently.

I guess they could have just rebuilt the basics very quickly in 12 months and repopulated it, but then no one seems to mention last year's alien attack. Maybe they used the Harvesters' technology for the rebuilding.

Is Predator 2 the main issue? You could assume, what with all the drug dealers, it went into anarchy after the attacks, then with the Yautja attacks everyone were preoccupied. Though I imagine the scientists would at least bring up the Harvesters, if it was a year ago

It's hilarious that Independence Day actually has a higher chance of being made official canon than Blade Runner does.

This is also an issue if you add all the other conncetions, Like in the Buffyverse, Buffy moves to Sunnydale in early August 1996, and the war happened on July 4th, 1996.

Thank god she became a slayer in late may, but I guess her parents and Dawn got lucky

P.S. I would just ignore all of that, since my timeline is not canon in the first place, but if it becomes actual canon, well it's problematic.

I mean, it's only a little worse than Predator 2. :p
