Cap vs Thor: Soulmates or Slaymates

Back in the day, early in the years of this title, folks lined up behind either the laid-back leftist Thor or the thawed neo-con Cap. Now, I wonder, if anyone has any doubt that Thor and Cap were the core of this whole series, that they had more in common than anyone else?

Let's face it: Tony was an arms dealer, the mutants were always looking out for themselves, Widow was a spy, Pym, Banner, Betty (not Betsy--she sewed the flag) Ross the PR monster.

But, through it all, the two characters that were the most devoted to ideals--even though they seemed polar opposites -- were Cap and Thor. Both had a level of ethics and integrity and strength of character that were unmatched by any of the other characters.

This is why I'm expecting -- and have been waiting for -- Thor and Cap to be the foundation of the Good Guys Winning at the end of this arc.

They're both being held at SHIELD aren't they?

I haven't read the 9th issue yet, so maybe I'm still a little behind.

SHIELD is an organization, not a building. You mean the Triskelion.

Ahem. Let's not spoil the guy yet.

Ah, ok.

I thought you meant something else for a second. Nevermind me. :D

I'm banking on them devising a plan together to break out.

Ultimates 2 #9 spoilers. BE CAREFUL!:
Yeah, the Tixiethelon is already demolished, but Cap and Thor and Iron Man will be the core that teams up to save the world.

Ice? Break out of what? What do you mean?
