I assumed this show was tied to the Stephen King Book Multiverse, but it references the 1980 film adaptation of The Shining. If it's in-continuity with this film, it's in continuity with Doctor Sleep.
Connecting it with a film means the series can't be connected to any of the books directly, meaning that either similar events happened in Castle Rock, or the film versions occurred.
My question is what is connected to Castle Rock? I mean the canon, in-universe versions. Could we say that The Shawshank Redemption is in continuity? What about Misery? Then we get to "It". Did this show create a Cinematic equivalent of the Stephen King Multiverse, or am I looking at things too closely?
