Comic Book T.V. wishlist.

Daredevil doesn't have the groove Superman does. They wouldn't be able to get a solid immediate following if people heard it was Daredevil w/o the costume.
That wouldn't matter because you wouldn't HAVE to sell it as "The Early Years of the Man Without Fear" the same way they call Smallville "The Early Years of the Man of Steel". At least not to Daredevil fans. So there. It's a superhero series that just steps away from its superheroey-ness. Which has been done before.

The fact that it is based on an existing comic book property of a relatively middle profile (he's not obscure, but he's certainly not insanely well known) would be just incidental, so marketing it as Daredevil would be a moot point. I mean clearly, lots of TV series get an 'immediate following' without having a pre-existing fanbase that it gets from licensing another property.

And on the other hand, those that are licensed from another property tend to apply that to their marketing in varied ways. Night Man --- a TV show based on a lower-profile hero from a largely forgotten Malibu Comics imprint --- ran for two seasons completely without marketing itself as anything with a pre-existing fanbase.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAHH!!

HEY!

I KNOW THAT NIPPLE!

I should have put copyrights on the nipple when I had a chance, now my nipple is whoring itself out for money

Stupid nipple

Its still early.....but Vertigo's "Scalped" would be awesome as a TV show. On HBO of course.

I also want to adapt "Daughters of the Dragon" for FOX. Please note that I'm talking about DoD....not the lame "Heroes For Hire" that's out now.

I still think Desolation Jones is a brilliant concept for TV. You've got your standard detective show, but you've also got the government experiment conspiracy stuff in the background. Plus, the supporting cast is insane. It would be awesome.

I would watch this, provided it had the proper budget and was on HBO or some other station where they wouldn't be restricted by what you can and cannot show on TV.

HBO Schmaich-BO.

FX's The Shield and Showtime's Dexter have proven that HBO is not the only network that can put out quality serialized programming for an adult audience.

My concern is not the censoring of the violence that is present in the series, but rather the over-sexualized elements; do you really think that a non-HBO-ish station would be open to the concept of "Hitler porn"?

Yes.

The Shield and Dexter are just as 'bad' as Rome, Carnivale, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under & Sex in the City.

Also, the great thing about teh Hitler porn, is that it is purely a McGuffin, and any issues over a McGuffin are easily resolved.

I want to see a Desolation Jones TV series, mainly so that I can hear people on television discussing Hitler Porn.
HBO Schmaich-BO.
I love Schmaich-BO, it's an excellent channel.

It IS an excellent channel.

But everyone keeps talking about it like it's the ONLY place where their favorite non-superhero comics can become TV series.

I don't even live in the United Provinces of Yanqui, and don't even GET Showtime or FX, but even I know that other networks are just as committed to quality adult content as The Almighty HBO.

Showtime carries programming that features Mary Louise Parker as a mother who turns to dope-dealing to support her family's privileged suburban lifestyle and a self-mutilating Mia Kirschner who exploits her relationship with a transexual by getting a book deal to write about it.

FX has a young boy tries to circumcise himself to deal with his self-esteem issues, a surgery addict, a woman who carried a petrified fetus in her and a Police Captain who is forced to give oral sex to Latino gangers.

No one can tell me that these network can't do Desolation Jones.

Oh, I'm confused.

I thought you were agreeing with Wade on HBO being the only place for Jones.

But what you meant was you like Schmaich-BO.

It was a joke.

And now I killed it by explaining it.
