Okay, I did some searching, and asked Ice to see if this thread has been done before, I couldn't find anything. If it's been done, fuse or delete this one.


And, now to the topic at hand. Cover songs, some can be great, some can be down right terrible. What I want to know is, what are some of your personal favorites. I kinda want to keep this going, as to help myself and everyone else discover new stuff. The format *should* be set up as "Cover Artist - Song (Original Artist)", should help with keeping it straight.



I'll start it off, some of my favorites so far have been;

Biff Naked - Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)
Nirvana - Plateau (Meat Puppets)
Stone Sour - Wicked Game (Chris Isaak)
Johnny Cash - Rusty Cage (Soundgarden)
Seether - Careless Whisper (Wham!)
Bear McCreary - All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan)
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan)

I posted it again in the music thread when this topic came up, but seriously is this cover of "Once in a Lifetime" garbage.

I can't think of a cover that more fully misses the point of the original song and dulls it down into nothingness.

It's kinda a fun jam if you like the more rock-n-roll approach.

Now I love the original version of this but after seeing the John Lewis adverts on tv I really like this cover song.

It's a different style sure but it has a really nice sound to it.

I've been loving Xiu Xiu's cover of "Don't Cha" by the *****cat Dolls lately because it's the most amazingly ****ed up thing ever.

I haven't heard their album but they have become quite popular thanks to their cover of "My Girls" by Animal Collective - of course changed to "My Boys":

I never really liked Creep until I heard it in The Social Network trailer. Now I think it's amazing. I guess that's what a Belgian girls' choir can do.
