DC Solicitations for September 06.

DEFINITES:
Wildcats: Worldstorm #1 - looking forward to it yet... worried. I respect Lee's artistic talents yet often don't enjoy them when they aren't reigned in a bit. I'm curious what the set-up for the WildCATS is.
Ex Machina #24
Desolation Jones TP

"ALL FABLES, ALL THE TIME" MONTH:
Fables: 1001 Nights Of Snowfall HC
Fables #53
Jack Of Fables #3

(and probably the 0.25 special, just because)

DEPENDS on how issues between now and then go:
Deadman #2 - haven't seen the first issue yet but the premise/solicit looks interesting.
Birds Of Prey #98 - I'm trying to get into this series, but so far it's just "okay"
Battler Britton #3 - haven't seen the first issue, but this'll probably be my pick of the Ennis crop coming out.
Checkmate #6 - maybe. Three issues in and it's been okay but not great. One more issue to hook me or get dropped.
Shadowpact #5 - only seen the first issue so we'll see what I think after 3 issues.
Wonder Woman #4 - the first issue was gently camp but with a very straight face, which is an interesting combination. We'll see how the next few are.

TRADEWAITS:
The American Way
DMZ
Hellblazer

It's a secret.

It's either 2006, or whenever the Wonder Woman movie comes out. I'm hoping for 2006.
If they don't get Adam Hughes to do All-Star Wonder Woman, I'll cut Didio's eyes out.

I swear to god.

Nope, it's a stand-alone story, but apparently the "origins" of some of the Fables characters are told. By now (issue #50) of the series we know most of them - or have a good guess - but not all.

The current trades are:

1. Legends in Exile (1-5; a Lan Medina, Steve Leialoha & Craig Hamilton).
2. Animal Farm (6-10; a Mark Buckingham & Steve Leialoha).
3. Storybook Love (11-18; a Bryan Talbot, Lan Medina, Mark Buckingham, Linda Medley, Steve Leialoha and Craig Hamilton).
4. March of the Wooden Soldiers (19-21, 23-27, Last Castle OGN; a Mark Buckingham & Steve Leialoha, Craig Hamilton & P. Craig Russell). [
5. The Mean Seasons (22, 28-33; a Mark Buckingham, Steve Leialoha, Tony Akins & Jimmy Palmiotti).
6. Homelands (34-41; a Mark Buckingham, Steve Leialoha, David Hahn, Lan Medina, Dan Green).
7. Arabian Nights (and Days) (42-47; a Mark Buckingham, Steve Leialoha, Jim Fern, Jimmy Palmiotti, Andrew Pepoy). due out July 6th.

The Last Castle (one-shot; a P. Craig Russell & Craig Hamilton).

Legends in Exile kicks things off and introduces you to the concepts and a handful of characters, but the story REALLY starts picking up with great twists in Animal Farm.

That Absolute New Frontier would be a lot more tempting if it wasn't $75.

SNAKES ON A PLANE #1 & 2
Writtenby Chuck Dixon
Art by Gordon Purcell
Photo covers
Issue #1 Variant cover by J.G. Jones
Issue #2 Variant cover by Jerome Moore
You've heard the Internet buzz…seen the hair-raising trailer…now experience the comic of the sensational summer movie Snakes on a Plane, written by Chuck Dixon (NIGHTWING) with art by Gordon Purcell and painted covers by J.G. Jones (52) and Jerome K. Moore (JSA: LOST)!
Snakes on a Plane stars Samuel L. Jackson as an FBI agent assigned to escort a government witness on a flight to Los Angeles. But when a crimelord sets loose hundreds of deadly snakes during the flight, the agent must band together with the pilot, frightened crew and passengers in a desperate attempt to survive and protect his witness!
Why's it have to be snakes? Relax, they're first-class fliers. Retailers please note: Each issue will feature two covers; see order form for details.
Retrosolicited • Issue #1 on sale August 16; issue #2 on sale August 30 • 1 & 2 of 2 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • MATURE READERS

 Awesome.

Well, it was a 6 issue mini, but each issue was double sized so thats about on spot with other Absolutes of that length.

I never heard it was official, just that they had plans for more All Star stuff down the line.

Personaly I want All Star Green Lantern Corp by Warren Ellis. Maily a Corp so that we get all the crazy *** aliens he'd come up with. And less Hal.

That was Kyle Rayner

Hal Jordan was the one who turned evil, then everyone had a hissy fit about him being evil, so they made him good again

Was Hal Jordan the one used in the cartoons where he was a cartoonist, I think it was?

They gave Hal Jordon's origin (GL crash, ring chooses new master) to Kyle in the DCU.

Good Month

Especially with Fables, and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

That Action Comics cover is quite possible the best cover ever. It's funny on so many levels; Superman actually saying "We'll smack you up!", convieniently forgetting that Supes himself is an alien... I don't read DC, but I'd buy a poster of that in a heartbeat.

Hmm, I suppose that came across differently than I meant it to. I only got into comics around March this year, so to keep things simple I'm sticking to Marvel for now (with a couple of exceptions, namely Scott Pilgrim and Y: The Last Man, which is technically DC but meh, semantics). I'll move onto DC, especially Batman, eventually, but I could see myself going mad if I didn't limit myself, and I was more interested in Marvel titles.

Good answer.
