Did Kevin Smith direct Scream 3 or something, or is that something else, and Im just being crazy? :?

no, but Jay and Silent Bob did make a cameo appearance in it, and Courtney Cox's character cussed them out, it was the only good thing about the movie.

Since they appeared in it I included it in the timeline.

u got it...strangely thats the ONLY thing I remembered about that movie (or perhaps not so strangely as, like I said, the rest of the movie was VERY forgettable).
Well, I got it for my brother as a b-day gift. Fans of the trilogy, I enjoyed it.

Anywho, I saw the Clerks cartoon on VHS (borrowed from a library), and it had 6 episodes, if I remember right. Is there more? Anyway to get them on DVD?

Yes, its only 6 episodes and they are available on DVD. Check amazon or ViewAskew.com and you should be able to find it. Actually, only 4 of the episodes ever aired on TV, so thats why there's so few.

I always thought that clerks was first and then mallrats.

Clerks was made first, but chronologically speaking Mallrats takes place the day before Clerks. The reasoning for this is the mentioned death of Julie Dwyer. In Oni Double Feature #1, we see her swimming in the YMCA pool in the background of one of the panels, and in Mallrats its mentioned one of the characters said something about her weight, which prompted her to swim hundreds of laps in the pool and pop a vessel in her brain, killing her. In Clerks, they go to her funeral. These all take place one day after the other.

There are a few other chronological instances for the timeline to play out this way, but can't remember right off the top of my head.

Ahhh... Yes now I remember... :D

Just added a new entry (Jay and Silent Bob Do Degrassi), as I just learned of it. Apparently Jay and Silent Bob were guest stars in an episode arc of this show, which I've never seen, but have heard of. So I added it into the timeline. If you're interested, this is available on DVD.

With Clerks II coming out on DVD the end of November, the news of Tales From the Clerks TPB being released around the same time (which collects every View Askew related comic book, including a new tale "Where's the Beef?!?" which tells how Dante and Randal came to work at Mooby's), and the animated movie Clerks - Sell Out scheduled for release in 2008, I figured I'd update the VA timeline for any fellow fans.

The placement of Clerks - Sell Out is tentative due to it being unreleased. Its proposed story involves Dante and Randal making a movie about their lives as Clerks. Therefore, it could take place either before or after Clerks II. As of now its placed after.

Re: DIrishB's Random Timeline/Chronology - The View Askew Universe (Kevin Smith movie

I'm in a bump years old threads today I guess. If they don't want to be bumped then they shouldn't appear under 'similar posts' while I read your MCU timeline. Any updates to this? Did that animated movie come out in '08? Not too familiar with Kevin Smith's movies, as I've only seen Clerks II (and Scream 3, plus Kevin was in the Daredevil movie). But I just love timelimes. I'm currently editing Tokyo Drift to better fit between Fast 6 and 7.

I've got a version updated, but I'll wait until Smith moves forward on Mallrats 2 and Clerks 3 before I update this.

Man, seeing Jay and Silent Bob Reboot tonight and it reminded me that this thread exists. I've got all the DVDs, so I may revive this as another thread that goes as deep as the others do with Chapter breaks and such.

After watching the movie last night, Justin Long's character seemed VERY familiar, so, I did some quick googling and found this video:

In which he confirms Long is reprising the role of Brandon Saint Randy from Zack and Miri Make a Porno, but they just couldn't name the character due to rights issues. He also mentions another Easter egg that I missed entirely, his wife reprised her role from Yoga Hosers. This also effectively brings Tusk into the Askewniverse. Both were rumored to be connected via the yet to be produced "Moose Jaws", but it looks like we got early confirmation.

I think whenever I Reboot this thread, I'll include all the Scream films as well. While Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back treats them as a fictional series, the Askewniverse also treats it's own entries as fictional, a tradition that continues in the most recent film. So if the Jay and Bob cameo in Scream 3 is enough to bring that in, I think the other ones should come along.
