Jonah Hex discussion

Issue 12 was very good.

Hex deals with people trying to kill a group of Mormons.

Very well done using real past events in it.

Yeah, it was a nice tie in while still having the story be completely standalone.

Re: #16

I like this new character, Tallulah Black. Totally screwed, nothing to lose...something tells me she's going to surprise some people, including Hex.

#22

Yeeeeeech. I didn't like this issue.

Machine men and robots and whatever else - totally out of place in this book.

Machine Men and Robots? Do they adress the Time Travel question in this one?

No. A scientist hires him to retrieve plans for a stolen robot from Thomas Edison, who had built a secret science city in the Rockies.

I won't spoil the entire issue, but it was just weird seeing him talking with Thomas Edison. And the secret city....not exactly the best issue.

Damn. I want to know how he got back from the future...

It sounds like a bad version of a Matt Fraction story.

Which issues has Phil Noto drawn?

Phil Noto did art and colors on issue 10 of Jonah Hex in a story called "Gator Bait". Pretty cool stuff and Noto's colors really fit the setting of the story in swampy southern Louisiana. I dunno if he's done any issues since then as I've only been picking up the trade of this series.

Love the stand-alone nature of the stories. Now they are starting to tie things together more by hanving stuff happen like the circus freaks coming back and hunting down Jonah.

Speaking of Westerns...

Loveless is also a killer Western series (from Vertigo), this one written by Brian Azzarello of 100 Bullets fame. These stories aren't stand-alone so be sure to put on your Remember Hat!

Recently snatched up the firstLone Ranger too and am looking forward to the next!

Streets of Glory by Garth Ennis and Mike Wolfer (published by Avatar) looks promising too. Only that short preview has come out so far so only time will tell, I guess.

I tried out Jonah Hex a while ago, back when there was only a few issues but it didn't interest me much. Story didn't captivate me and the art was quite inconsistent.

That said, I just downloaded the issues drawn by Phil Noto (except for #10, I can't find that anywhere) and they're really good. His art really suits this comic. Plus, Hex is a badass.

Now I'm going to read #22, which people think is the worst issue so far. Hold me.

JHW3 is doing an issue of Jonah Hex.

Well, it will be worth it.

#24 was pretty good...it was a Halloween story and Jonah Hex gets possessed by Diablo briefly. Kind of weird but it was pretty good.

Darwyn Cooke and JH Williams III are both drawing issues. I will definitely be picking up both of those.

COOL.

I buy this in trades but I would probably get both of those issues.
