Seeing as how there's no 'toy' forum or the like, I thought this the best place to post my thread.
I've finally been pulling enough shifts at work to afford to buy something other than my share of the rent and health insurance, and while my first course of action was to book a much needed holiday for me and my sweetheart, I still find myself with a fair share of dough.
Naturally, most of it is going to be invested. But, I'm on the verge of shifting my comics subscription to another shop in Amsterdam, which offers a whopping 40% discount for subscribers, compared to my current 20% one. Granted, the comics are more expensive in the first place, making both shops about even on the average comic price. The best thing about this new shop however, is the fact that the discount reaches every corner of the shop, from comic bags, to backers, to TPBs, to figurines and statuettes.
Having wanted to since they were released, I've now made it my mission to collect one Marvel Legends/Select figure a month, to eventually build up a rather nice display. After scouring endless toy sites on the net, I've narrowed my wish list down to the following figurines:
Marvel Legends.
Series 1:
Hulk, looks a bit inarticulate, but nevertheless cool.
Iron Man Gold, the classic yellow armour looks ridiculousy bright.
Series 2:
Thing, looks almost perfect.
Doctor Doom, looks a bit dull but still a fairly cool representation.
Series 3:
Thor, I hate that costume, I really do, but that figure does look sweet.
Ghost Rider, don't like that version of the bike, but GR himself looks good.
Series 4:
Beast, don't like the mouth hinge, but the body is great.
Series 5:
Colossus, again, gaudy costume, but cool figure all in all.
Silver Surfer, maybe more grey than silver, but still.
Series 6:
Brown Wolverine, I just hope the claws don't go all bendy.
Juggernaut, a bit mishapen, but nice anf hefty.
Deadpool, sweeeeet.
Ghost Rider 2, better bike than the first figure.
Series 8:
Ultimate Captain America, can't wait to get this one.
Iron Man Modern Armour, looks a bit skinny, but a great suit.
Iceman, looks a bit crap, but it's Iceman.
Series 9:
Nightcrawler, looks decent.
War Machine, I hope you can remove those blasts and stuff.
Series 10:
SpiderMan First Appearance, nostalgic.
Black Panther, brilliant, although the gold is a bit..... urgh.
Angel X Factor Variant, blue costume rocks.
Marvel Select.
Ultimate Thor, not just sweet, but suh-weet.
Ultimate Hulk, looks spectacular.
I've surfed for hours, but can't seem to find a decent site that reviews every series, but from what I found, these are the figures that I'm interested in. Either the other characters don't interest me, or the figure just looks terrible. One problem I find, is that the colours for most characters are far too bright and garish, although I'm hoping that's simply a problem on the photos part.
Does anyone know of any sites that have reviews up? Can anyone give a quick review of any of the above?
