I've got a question about Nick Fury. In Nextwave, he was supposed to be Dirk Anger, but Marvel didn't want him in that because apparently they had big plans for him. Today I learned that The Filth was originally pitched to Marvel by Grant Morrison to be a Nick Fury story, which he eventually turned into the Vertigo series. Now, I'm wondering, why is Marvel so protective of Nick Fury (protective is the only way I can describe it), and why don't they give him his own series again? It seems like Nick Fury would have made an interesting alternative to Dirk Anger or Greg Feely....Also, does anyone know what Morrison's original Nick Fury plans were for The Filth? What would The Filth be like if was a Nick Fury story? I can't really picture Nick Fury as being obsessed with cats and pornography, but maybe that's why Marvel turned it down? It doesn't look like there are any big plans for Nick Fury in the mainstream Marvel universe....
