Oscar-worthy films of 2008

Medellin?

So. Guys. Dark Knight. You've seen it. Any hopes?

<---not an Academy Speculator.

I could certainly see a Best Picture nomination. Richard Roeper agrees with me.

It would be nice if Ledger got the nod as well, but it would be somewhat bittersweet if the first award for a comic book movie was given in such a situation.

Alright, just watched In Bruges and it is spectacular as Planet Man said. It definitely deserves the award for Screenplay, and should get a Best Picture nom. Great movie.

Also, Pride and Glory is coming out. Should be very good.

Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler.

I'm going to bet on Frost/Nixon going up for several awards.

I hope Vicky Christina Barcelona gets a nod somewhere in there... Maybe Rebecca Hall for Best Actress, or Javier Bardem for Best Supporting Actor.

I really hope that this comes out in time to be considered by The Academy:

I saw The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas last night and I was annoyed to discover that it's not being released in the U.S. until after Oscar season. Here was a movie that definitely deserved a Best Picture nod, as well as a Best Actor award for its young star Asa Butterfield. Go and see it as soon as it comes out.

The name 'Asa Butterfield' is kind of hot.

I am however, disappointed to discover that he is not actually hot.
