In the Game they also seem to know each other. The other thing is that Watson mentions being married and is not living in the Baker Street, even though that doesn't line up perfectly. Although there were some Sherlock Holmes Timeline works that stated Watson was married thrice, one time off-page, so it is entirely possible that this is the off-page marriage.
