A team book, in other words. Remember when the X-Men were a team, not a franchise operation? Vaughan and Immonen do, and that's what they're providing here. The classic formula, given a polish for the twenty-first century.
Although I've not followed 616 X-Men so I can't agree with the reviewer on those grounds, I do believe that Ultimate X-Men was consistantly "classic". I wish Vaughan would come back to the title, but we've got Bryan Singer coming up instead. I do believe that we don't notice much of a difference between Kirkman's writing and Vaughan's or, at least, I've got faith we won't.
