The Comic Board

Help Support Comic Board:

A lot of people talk about Super Sentai and Kamen Rider continuities and whether they share the same world as their other seasons. But not a lot of people talk about another Toei mega franchise, PreCure (which has also sorta crossed over with both?) and how all their seasons DO share the same universe.

In hugtto PreCure they have a regular episode where a bunch of previous cures show up such as Cure Echo to set up the events of the then upcoming All Stars movie for that season. This shows that the All Stars crossover films are canonical and all 23 PreCure seasons are set in the same reality. There's also a few smaller bits of cross continuity I know one season mentions Ranko (a side character from the Go! Princess PreCure season) now being a famous idol.1000000378.jpg

Hoo boy, the PreCure rabbit hole is just...

Wew, I fear for anyone's sanity if they go down it to do a Timeline.

Who's up for the ultimate time waster of making a timeline for the entire Cartoon Network multiverse. I.e. every series represented in the OK K.O. "Crossover Nexus" special. That's basically every show from the channel's entire history as well as all of Hannah Barbera. The only shows not counted I believe are Ninjago, Chima, Mixels, Nexo Knights, Unikitty, Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, Ivandoe and Iyanu, either because they moved to Adult Swim, didn't get made until way after Crossover Nexus or are Lego series. iirc Invincible Fight Girl had some items in a shop that might connect it to the multiverse so even though it got moved to HBO Max that show still counts I think.

Hardest part is deciding which shows are the same universe or not. Dexter, PPG and Samurai Jack are all confirmed separate, both by the creators and the comic crossover showing them as separate earths in the same panel. OK K.O. seems to share the same universe as Hannah Barbera, Captain Planet, Villainous and Victor and Valentino. Also possibly the Trigger anime Little Witch Academia for some reason.

All the Canadian and Japanese imports are more or less connected as well due to the Noods dressing up as the characters and the Noods canonically existing thanks to the OK KO special showing them. So yeah Naruto is in the CN multiverse as well as Total Drama, sure why not

Btw PreCure connects to the Digimon multiverse. There was a recent PreCure novel that had a villain from Digimon Frontier appear. It resolved his uncertain fate from Digimon because he falls through a portal to another universe there and we never see what happened to him or where he was sent. The PreCure novel shows he was sent to the PreCure universe

Does Death Battle have any continuity? Certain fights seem to reference past ones. Specifically like, Flash vs Quicksilver's Quicksilver death being revealed to have been caused by Reverse Flash in Reverse Flash vs Goku Black, or the Segata Sanshiro vs Chuck Norris constellation appearing in several episodes in the background. Certain One Minute Melee videos also tied in with Death Battle plots too iirc. DBXs pilot continues off of the events of Dante vs Bayonetta. Goku vs Superman has Vegeta reference his fight against Shadow. I could probably go on

Thinking about the Mega Man Classic timeline. I think it goes like this?

1
2
3
World 1
World 2
Wily Wars
4
RockBoard
World 3
5
Soccer
World 4
World 5
6
7
Power Battle
B&C
8
&Bass
Power Fighters
SAR
& Bass: Challenger from the Future
9
10
11
VR
12
Xover
Then the X series starts after that

I can explain my reasonings if anyone is curious

1997 - Anaconda (1997)
1999 - Lac Placid
2004 - Anacondas : La Chasse à l'Orchidée de Sang
2004 - Jeu d'aventure Anacondas 3D
2007 - Lake Placid 2
2008 - Anaconda 3 : Descendance
2009 - Anacondas : La Piste du Sang
2010 - Lake Placid 3
2012 - Lake Placid : Le Chapitre Final
2015 - Lake Placid contre Anaconda
2018 - Lake Placid : Héritage
2024 - Anaconda : La Jungle Maudite
2025 - Anaconda (2025)
« Je ne comprends pas pourquoi on associe cela à l'origine. »

In the new Anaconda movie, by the way, the in-universe Anaconda film is based on a book. In real life, our version of the original movie is completely original. That shows a deviation from reality.

I just saw it and I noticed the cameo. For me, there are two universes: the world of the saga and the real world, as you explained to me.
The way I see it, we never learn what character those actors played in the in-universe film, the history of the in-universe film is different from ours, the specific anaconda in the film is the same variant from Anaconda (1997) and Lake Placid vs. Anaconda (there's even a reference to this specific anaconda being able to crush a car like in the crossover), and we never see any footage of the in-universe film. It is feasible that the new film is the same continuity as the others.
Having seen all these films now (which... was quite a choice), they are actually very lore consistent with each other. Lake Placid: Legacy is NOT a reboot like wikipedia says. It's a sequel set in a new location that explains where the crocodiles came from. A character is mentioned to have taken the crocodiles to Lake Placid (Black Lake), Maine 25 years ago, which would be 1993. That's 6 years before Lake Placid takes place. It's clearly in the same continuity.

The chinese-language instalment, Anaconda: Cursed Jungle, is not a remake either. I can accept the term reboot, but it isn't really like the first film at all. It doesn't contradict anything, so throwing it in the same timeline makes perfect sense. Actually, they're all extremely lore consistent considering half of them are Syfy films. I appreciate that.
Basically, there's an in-universe movie called Anaconda in the 2025 film that stars serveral actors that were in the 1997 film. Since we never see any footage of it and the characters that those actors played aren't named, you can easily say that the new instalment is the twelve film in the original Anaconda universe (six Anaconda films, five Lake Placid films, and Lake Placid vs. Anaconda) rather than essentially the Anaconda version of Wes Caven's New Nightmare.

Think Scream and Stab... or A Nightmare on Elm Street being a canon film in Freddy's Nightmares.
